From Daniel House:

In the same drill, the second-team offense advanced the ball past the 50-yard-line and Bailey was again called upon to attempt a field goal. This time, he drilled the attempt from 53 yards out. Bailey finished the afternoon 6-for-8 with made tries from 35, 41, 42, 45, 47 and 53 yards. Both of his misses came from the right hash (38 and 52 yards), which has been a theme. This training camp, all but one of Bailey’s misses have occurred when he is lined up on the right hash.

I find this interesting, and should be correctable? Like a bowler missing his spot, or shooting a gun (tight bunching but off the target).

I bet it's correctable. If you have a tight grouping but are not hitting the center of the target, you adjust the sights. Kickers probably have to adjust their foot positioning or something simple like that. I hope we get the kicking game as to automatic as we can get it. It's been a problem for too long.

Every miss in MN is and will continue to be amplified beyond rational expression until we have a new head coach, imo - just saying

It's like a virus that will never go away

Speaking of Alexander Hollins, Paul Allen just said that he does indeed look good, but he's got too many players ahead of him. Maybe he will make the practice squad.

Then he opined about Brandon Dillon. (Who I mixed up with Dillon Mitchell yesterday- too many Brandon's and Dillons on the team) Anyway, he absolutely loves the tight end Dillon and believes he is the most physical of all our tight ends. He thinks he has a real shot at making the team.

Maybe we can trade for Daniel Carlson.

Take this for what it's worth. We sat at the hotel bar one night last season the night before a game (don't remember which one and no - I didn't and don't drink). The lady next to my buddy was clearly the mom of one of the players based on how she was talking. My buddy being the fun sort of guy he is asked her which player was her husband (not his first time at this).

She said she was Eric Wilson's mom. She went OFF! She says her son should be the starter over 'the other guy' and that everyone on the team knows it except for 'a certain coach'. Biased as she may have been she says her son can't figure out why he hasn't cracked the starting lineup and that players have privately backed him up.

Take it for what it's worth.

I’d probably take quite a bit with the grain of salt about now.

Listening to NY Giants training camp on NFL radio when their lead beat writer comes on and proclaims one of the Giants biggest weaknesses (OLine) “Fixed” because of Their 2 big FA acquisitions.

One of them was Mike Remmers..

Devante Downs tips a pass coming off of a blitz on Sean Mannion, catches the tipped pass, and runs it in for a pick six (Arif Hasan on Twitter)

By the way, Arif doesn't like me now because I suggested that he stick to football instead of dabbling into politics. That's all I'll say.

Good for you! I don't care how much I like someone's take on Twitter or anywhere else I'm not tuning into them to listen to their politics - block 'em

I tend to agree with her.

Thought Wilson did start at SSLB when Barr missed 2 games last season.

He's definitely way better than Gideon IMO.

Might be a Spielman theme.

He tends to give his draft picks too much rope.

Unsure why... He also gets credit for signing UDFA's. Which probably takes a little selling to the player.

Watching him play last year, he is very fast and good instincts imo...
However, he couldn't get off blocks. He is a smaller LB.
Hoping he takes the next step this year... his speed is really an asset.

That being said, I don't think players or their parents are particularly objective on their own performance.
I frequent another board that had the father of a player who played for the Vikes for a long time at a high level... loved his posts but parent objectivity can be questionable... my mom thought I was basically Michael Jordan if I just applied myself... she was not correct.

I don't take the depth chart too seriously at this stage of the preseason.

By the way, they are speaking very critically of Drew Samia on Skor North right now. They say he has been very disappointing and might even be cut. Wow.

That would really suck if he busts. He was very highly regarded coming out of college and we made a minor move up in the draft to get him. Now if he gets cut because everybody else was just too good I could live with that.

For one thing, Adam Zimmer said Gedeon is "always in the right place," so that is probably one of Gedeon's relative advantages vs. Wilson.

Especially since we moved down several times prior to moving up. Hoping Mattison is worth all the maneuvering.

I still like him when he talks football. I told him that football brings us together and that is special in these days.

Especially since we moved down several times prior to moving up. Hoping Mattison is worth all the maneuvering.

By all reports Mattison is looking very worth the pick we used on him. However, you can't trust the reports too much just yet. So maybe Samia doesn't suck.

Meatsauce was raving about Samia last Saturday night. I want to see these players for myself in a real game.
