As disappointing as the OL has been, Cousin's poor play may have exceeded the OL, and made them lose confidence, hope, etc ....

The Vikings might beat Miami at home next week, but will not beat Detroit and the only reason they will be the Bears is that the Bears won't have to worry about a win, probably rest players. Show of hands, who wants to watch this team in a playoff game..........hmmm, thought so.

The era of tough guy coaching went out a long time ago, Zimmer is the only one tying to bring it back, news flash, this team isn't tough, they don't believe you, they don't mimic you. They will always say nice things about you, you are the head guy, but down inside, they laugh at you and your schtick. Last week I watched an interview with Rhodes and PA was asking him about playing DB for Zimmer, insinuation how tough Zim was, he said something like, "yea, he's always watching, one day he was about 50 yards away and he was yell at me like he saw the play, I just laughed and said just go coach down there where you are". Something to that effect. It's a joke, no one takes it serious. Today's younger people don't respond to this type of "type A' shit any more. You need to grow with the times or they pass you by. He's a good coach, just not the guy you want in charge of the whole thing. Such a good roster, so many solid players, they should be much more formidable than they are.

Excellent post as usual Dana! Hell even Andy Reid has changed with the times. He may never win one but at least he sees what's going on and adapts. Zimmer wants to do Parcells ball so badly in an era where its pretty much impossible.

If Zim is like Buddy Ryan, then I agree they should make him DC, he is worth keeping.

If Cousins is like Archie Manning, then he will be a career loser, and the Vikes should look into signing one of his sons for a QB in the future

Playoffs are still a decent possibility depending on how are injured players are... Even if we make it it's unlikely we advance far, so time to look to the future.

If I own the team I:
1. Fire Zimmer or demote him to DC.
2. Promote Flip to HC on a 2 year make good deal.
3. Fire Priefer
4. Direct Spielman to focus on OL or be fired. At least 1 Guard should be signed via FA and 1 drafted. A new TE should drafted high as well.
5. Restructure some deals for overpaid vets or dump them... Griff, Rudolph, Remmers are exhibits A, B, and C, although I'm sure there are others.

You Never demote a head coach. That is like asking the president of a company if the will settle with a demotion to phone sales. Only the Twins do that.

Hey, we agree!

With over two minutes left in the third quarter, this stat came up. These are plays Minnesota failed to convert on up to that point in the game, really, you need heart for this stuff. Not saying it was Cousins fault, but when Case was playing last year, it is one of the things that really made me like him, he figured out ways to get it done in games like this. Thats a big difference between he and Cousins. Cousins looks the part, but I'm not sure if the players around him really believe it. They say they do, but really, not so sure they think of him as their leader.

Only a slight demotion to DC, and they could pitch it that Zim could continue to coach one of the best defenses in the league.

Then you send a 1st round draft pick to the Rams for McVay and make him the new Vikings HC

Dana, that tells us Kirk isn't quick enough, or quirk enough.

That is why I would like to see Sloter play, I think he is quick enough to convert some of those 3rd and shorts

Hey Richard, I was told Richardson was that type of dream during FA, but the Vikings went out and got him.

1st rounder for McVay, make it happen. It would keep fans interested, and hopeful.

The Rams aren't letting him go anytime soon. I love your optimism though Marty.

What incentive would the Rams have to do that?

Maybe we should trade a 1st for Belichick, and then, since he's 41, we could probably get Brady for a 2nd or 3rd...

With the Rams, McVay is stuck with Goff, might never win a SB with him.

The Vikings have Sloter.

The Vikings can give McVay more money, give them Rams a 1st round pick, offer McVay a more talented defense to work with, better facilities, better looking uniforms, a better stadium, better upper management team to work with, and give McVay more freedom than what he currently has.

The Vikings can give the Rams money, bribe them.

I bet Brady is sick of Bellicheat getting all the credit, and would love to stick it to them and win a Super Bowl with another team. Montana never did that, came close with KC, Brady would cement himself as the greatest QB EVER if he won a Super Bowl for the Vikings.

It is apparent that the Vikings have more problems than just a couple of OG's. After this season is over, I am sure the Wilfs are going to take a good look at the direction the league is taking and decide if the current crew is going to get you a championship. The smart money says no, unfortunately the current management/coaches have had a chance and are regressing with a top ten roster, that means there is a message problem. That can't be fixed with a couple OG's. How deep they will go is any buddies guess, but I feel something has to be done or this doesn't improve.

Goff has upside. Cousins may not in people’s minds.

I doubt the Rams would let McVay go for 3 first rounders. After watching Zimmer castrate the Vikings offense I would hold onto a good offensive coach.

I would take giving up 10 points a half.

I was hoping to see Todd ring in with, "Then boy have a got news for you", after the Kendricks pick right before half

I was too late to put it.

Brady is never going to play for anyone but the Patriots. He's not going to come the Vikings. we have a QB for the next couple years with a big contract and lots of guanateed money. Let's see what they can do the shore up the Oline and have a Oline coach from the start of the league year and not have a new co coaching scheme thrust in right before the season starts...

I think OL is a scapegoat, when more of the responsibility really lies with the QB.

You improve the OL, you do better against mediocre and poor teams, but if the QB doesn't become quicker, and make good clutch decisions, you are likely going to continue losing when the opposition has better QB play.

I was excited about Kirk early in the year, then I started to see why he has been like Romo and Cutler, putting up stats, but not usually coming through in the clutch.
