They lose Ed McCaffrey II.

Sadly, RS will crown him so that he can go into the draft with total freedom. Oh, except that nagging interior line thing.

Jordan Taylor is coming off double hip surgery / no 2018. Before that, another injury in 2017 with 13REC. (Undrafted with 16REC in 2016)

Just a body.

All we can afford are bodies. Hercules is a body too, with a chance. Sometimes a player will surprise.

Jordan Taylor has hip surgeries
Dr. Philippon of The Steadman Clinic performed the surgery in Vail.

KUSA — Next up in the line of Broncos’ offseason surgeries is Jordan Taylor.

The Denver Broncos’ second-year receiver and punt returner had his right hip surgically repaired by Dr. Marc Philippon at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, league sources tell 9NEWS. (Update: This report initially said Taylor was to have surgery on both hips. It was decided to treat the other hip conservatively, and not repair it surgically). (Update II: It turned out 9News original report was correct: Taylor did have surgery on both hips. The second, on his left hip, was 9 weeks after his first surgery on his right hip).

The long-framed, long-haired, sure-handed Taylor -- known as “Sunshine’’ to his teammates and cult following -- was not only a rare Broncos’ bright spot in the second half of the 2017, he also showed remarkable toughness the entire season. Taylor had been playing with a labrum tear in his right hip since the preseason, according to a source. His left hip also started bothering him as the season went along.

Taylor rescued the Broncos’ punt returning position from the fumbling Isaiah McKenzie in the final quarter of the season and had 6 catches for 65 yards in the season finale Sunday against Kansas City.

Taylor, who turns 26 next month, will be an exclusive rights free agent who is expected to make $630,000 in 2018.

He follows quarterback Trevor Siemian to the Broncos’ list of offseason body repairs. Siemian is undergoing left shoulder surgery this morning by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles.

Stephen, Kline, Mannion, Taylor, the AAF dudes.

Spielman is just trying to make his coming draft picks look good.

it's weird that we haven't signed aldrick robinson considering the td's he produced last season - he's still unsigned...wonder what he's asking?....

“PR option”

Pretty much sums up our Free Agency.

Spielman has been too busy "taking care of our own"

More a tune to a SB team rather than the paltry 8-7-1 team that we are.

Still waiting for an answer from yesterday. Although the line of posts are back today, guess he's moved past it:

What should Spielman do? Not approve the deal? Tell Brzez to front load the deal even though we have no cap space?

Brzez (IMO) is among the best in the business. Unless Spielman overrides him and tells him to rework contracts, how is this Spielman's fault except in the general "the buck stops here" sense? Presuming of course they want to keep the players they are trying to sign, or do right by them.

Just in case he makes the squad, here's his predraft info:

JORDAN TAYLOR, Rice. 6'5, 210

OVERVIEW

2014: Second-team all-Conference USA selection. 2013: Earned second-team all-Conference USA honors from league coaches. 2012: Led the Owls with 826 receiving yards 57 receptions, capping his breakout sophomore season with a sparkling Armed Forces Bowl performance. 2011: Caught 10 passes for 721 yards and a pair of touchdowns. 2010: Redshirted.

PRO DAY RESULTS

40-yard dash: 4.5 seconds
Vertical jump: 36 1/2 inches
Broad jump: 10 feet, 2 inches
Short shuttle: 4.46 seconds
3-cone: 6.69 seconds
Bench: 9 reps of 225 pounds

ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS

Tall target with thin build. Has intriguing "slow-burn" speed for his height. Long-strider who eats up cushion and can blow by off corners and safeties who underestimate him. Sinks hips into his breaks and can break off route quickly for a tall receiver. Played outside and from slot. Uses stride to get separation. High school quarterback who is a dangerous runner after the catch. Has 14 touchdowns over last two seasons, including from 88, 61, 41 and 75.

WEAKNESSES

Upright off snap and into his routes and needs an extended runway to build up to top speed. Thin frame and gets redirected off the line. Play strength is below par. Lack of initial foot quickness and upright posture could be a problem against aggressive press-cover corners. Had issues with focus drops early in 2014 season after foot injury. Made more challenging catches early in career.

DRAFT PROJECTION Round 6 or 7

NFL COMPARISON Tommy Streeter

BOTTOM LINE

Taylor is a productive, outside-the-numbers vertical threat with an ability to sting a defense after the catch. Needs work, but is a plus athlete with great height and an ability to separate. Must prove he can get off press coverage and play stronger in order to become viable NFL receiver.

Akin to blaming the janitor

Spielman is in charge and is making all the calls. He decides whom to extend and sign. Brez is the accountant trying to rub penny's together. None of this falls on him.

What part of that don't you understand?
