Let's see what the board has to say about Coach Mike Zimmer. Where are you at with the Vikings Head Coach?

Really think that he would survive as Defensive Coordinator.....

Thanks Richard. Give us a good idea of what the expectations are from the fan base , well at least this community.

Most know I am a big fan of our coach but also recognize what is at stake. Hopefully a successful season will win fans back.

Some may caveat better offense, better clock management, a kinder disposition but in the end results are what matters.

Somewhere else. He would have a job as a DC if let go IMO. Could get another shot as a Head coach. If you meant as the Vikings DC taking a demotion I don't see that happening but anything is possible.

Yeah actually I may have voted wrong. I voted that yes I want him out if we miss the playoffs but that may have been the wrong answer. Oops!

Better?

I think it should just be do you want him out as head coach. In or out messes with the answers a little.

Also it moves the conversation out of the free agents thread. Great job Jason!

There's probably a couple posters that are waiting for the "Yes - If Vikings win the Super Bowl" option.

Much!

I see little reason to fire Zimmer unless it is a complete train wreck next year.

I guess I could get more specific on how far we have to go, but as long as I see improvement next year, they should definitely be in the playoffs, and advance perhaps a couple rounds it would be tough to whack him.

We all want a Super Bowl ring obviously, however I do remember the Leslie Frazier/ Mike Tice era’s as well.

Still only two playoff appearances in five years. Those two seasons were very good regular season's and disappointing playoff runs. 2016 and 2018 were difficult and both lacked OL. 2014 his first season has to be considered a success with AD situation plus a rookie QB in Bridgewater plus the defensive improvement from 32nd in scoring defense to 11th.

I think the fan base is in the make the playoffs and win at least one game. The front office might be just get into the playoffs unless they go 11-5 or something and miss them.

Hopefully the OL is improved- just hard to see what direction the team is going with interior OL. Overpaid for Reiff and Remmers and maybe why the avoidance of high priced free agents.

I like Zim but the facts are in and he is not a very good HC

-Poor clock management
-Poor use of the challenge flag
-In game and halftime adjustments are nonexistent
-Team comes out flat far too many times. Esp big games NFCCG, Play in game last season, Buffalo
-Is routinely out-coached
-Needs an experienced offensive coordinator in order to have a competent offense
-Kicking game has been dreadful during his tenure

The only wow moments I had with Zim were the first 5 games of 2016 when our defense was just tearing it up.

But for some reason we haven't seen him call games like that since.

Zimmer HC 5 years.

Best records over the past five seasons.

1. NE 62-18 HOF QB
2. Pitt 54-25-1 HOF QB
3. KC 54-26 A Smith 4 years and now P Mahomes
4. Sea 51-28-1 RWilson- HOF most likely
5. Dal 48-32 Romo/Dak
6. Min 47-32-1 Teddy/Bradford/Keenum/Cousins- Cassel 2 and Hill 1
7. Car 46-34 Cam Newton
8. Phil 46-34 Foles/Bradford/ Wentz/ Foles- Sanchez started 10 games
9. GB 45-34-1 HOF QB
10. NO 45-35 HOF QB

Nagy, Pederson and Mcvay all are off to excellent starts. Zimmer is good head coach unless W/L's mean nothing.

Disagree on the lack of adjustments.
Challenges really? Ok maybe cite stats here I'm not looking that up.
Clock management- my opinion he has improved this.
Record indicates he is hardly routinely out coached.
Flat games - ok
Kicking game- I mean seriously Walsh proved to be a head case and Carlson cost the team the playoffs. A 27 yarder gives him a playoff win and a 35 yarder gets him in the playoffs last season.

Will see Bill. Skol.

I think a wild card may be where we end up. I'd like to see two playoff wins, but two road wins is tough. So then you have one and done. Good in that you made it, bad in that you didn't do much.

In short, I'd like to see two playoff wins as an option leading him to stay. Tough to do, but that's what he needs to get done.
