I think we should have had Stalock in before game 5 IMO.

It's always helpful when the other team doesn't have the luxury of knowing that all they have to do is putting shots on net and the goalie will eventually flub one.

Especially after a shutout on the road. It should be the opposite of Clint Eastwood on this one....Deserves have something to do with it.

My friends get mad at me for blaming Dubnyk …
My biggest gripe, watch Stalock and how athletic he is, in a good way
yes, he looks out of position at times, he has to play that way
Dubnyk tries to play that way, and it costs us every time.
When you are 6 ten and 300 pounds like Dubnyk, you should never "sprawl"
he ends up "sprawled' about 12 times a game.
Watch other big tenders. When they feel pressure, they sit. They still cover the net that way. Our giraffe on skates makes himself small.
Its not that difficult to see what he does wrong.
Stalock plays crazy because he has to. Never blame him for that.

*** Ottawa. We needed ya today. Thanks for being there for us.
** Rask. The new whuppin boy most nights by the FB type Wild fans. Its not his fault most nights, people. (and no, Nino wouldn't be doing squat here, either)
* Stalock. No brainer on the one-star, and no-brainer to leave him in net moving forward. But I'm also betting BB won't.

Need to look ….
are we on the

"don't play for a month"
or the
"17 games in 12 days"

part of the schedule?

I thought the goal was to finally bottom-out and get a top draft pick?

Damn straight. Keep their eyes on the prize. Start Dubs in every game and have Mikko and Rask center the power play units.

BB will play to win except for the starting goalie. Draft better and try to win is the way to go. Recall Mayhew check and possibly Sturm next. Keep trying to win, not tank.

I don't really mean they should consciously rank. I just think they are on the brink of a collapse. The diminishing returns of Mikko, Zach, Suter and Staal combined with the not ready for prime time status of Greenway, Ek, Kunin, etc. is going to result in a terrible season.

Problem #1 is our underperforming goaltender. #2 problem is Zucker. Both are overpaid and have underperformed in 2018-19 and so far in 19-20. Mikko, Zach, Suter, and Staal will come around but Zucker and Dubes are the top two problems on my list.

Can't bring myself to do that
I realize there are a bunch of you who think that way in all of our sports
I've never a) understood that theory or b) been able to make myself buy into it

All these years, I just don't think a couple places in the draft order are really that meaningful towards a rebuild.
Rebuild while winning is what should be the goal.

I really don't think any of these guys are coming around. I think they are old, have a lot of wear and tear and are all solidly in decline. I agree on Zucker and Dubes. Grossly over paid and under productive. As much as I like Greenway and Kunin, they aren't ready to shoulder the load. I think this is going to be a really really bad year.

I joke about tanking, but I really think the Wild are headed to the top tier of draft slots this year.

I think most of the ones playing poorly are accountable for it....I seem to see excuses from Dubes and Zucker more than accountability.

I think Parise, Staal, Zucc, and Suter will figure it out. We need our Goalie to be the shutdown Dubes and we need Zucker to snipe....and we aren't getting either. Start Stalock next game and integrate Mayhew and Sturm until the rest get going.

Again. I just don't see it with Parise, Koivu, Staal and Suter. It's not a matter of figuring it out. They don't have it anymore. They will all work hard and play to the best of their abilities, and even have their moments during the year, but they are all a step slower from age and or an accumulation of injuries. I don't see a comeback year for any of them. I don't see them leading a team to the playoffs. Especially in front of a sieve goalie, who BB is going to play come hell or high water.

Parise had 61 points last year after a couple of down years so I don't agree with him, I agree on Koivu. Suter is a year removed from his broken leg and Staal is the wild card(a down year after a career year). Too many wild cards out of the three. We will see.

Different animal tonight
Lets see how your "we have to win games 2-1" philosophy works tonight Bruce.
"we can't count on 4-5 goals a night"
Well, then ….. you're gonna lose a lot.
Thanks for the uplifting message.
Your shut-down defense world works when you have a world-class goalie making it work.
We don't have one.

Parise is 35, has had multiple back surgeries and rarely has a healthy season.
Staal is days away from turning 35 and had a multi year run of declining numbers before the Wild picked him up. After a big 2017, he regressed to his mean.
Suter may be OK because his game is based on spending as little energy as possible.
Mikko is just done.

That's the core of the talent and leadership on the team. Dubnyk will remain the #1 goalie. BB is going to live or die with those guys, no matter what. Feel free to be optimistic Phil. I just don't share it.

Totally surprised to see Parise get up from the hit on the EN goal.
PERFECT opp for him to take some time off AGAIN
He must still be excited about hockey this year, or it would have been the typical "out for 2-3 months with an undisclosed ailment"

I am not that optimistic....I actually said too many wild cards. That is more optimistic than you though.
