I'm on board.

He's our best and most consistent player.

Freaky how he gets things done with such a quiet efficiency.

GROUNDHOG DAY
2020 version

Buzz
Buzz
Buzz
No scorers
Buzz

Buzz
Lose a close one
Go to bed
Wake up
Repeat.

Great to have hockey back on.
But couldn't help but have the exact same feelings from the past.

Really. How many power plays did we have and couldn't score? I didn't watch the whole game because I was back and forth between the Twins and the Wild (and a news program too) - but they definitely had that sloppy look of the beginning of a season.

And that's the saving grace - that it's not only the beginning of a season, but pre-season. Different players tonight - let's go WILD!

I know many don't agree but I think Dumba will help. Having a dman that can score....cough couch Brodin can't but the other 3 can....helps their lack of forward/center punch. Also give Hunt more time.

I know many of my favorite people in here disagree, but gonna say it anyway

We COULD win it all
We COULD lose em all

I will be surprised by NOTHING this year

We aren't that bad
We aren't that great
Anything might happen.

But the systemic scoring issues will always haunt us, I'm afraid.
You can only bust your ass so many nights before it wears you out.
Our goalies numbers may be awesome, but his timing is AWFUL
And I'm afraid that's the m.o. of the club
Good enough most nights, not good enough most nights.

meh, you get what I mean.

I don't disagree with any of that. You will never get that big scorer until you start drafting guys who have that big scorer potential. The Wild have always emphasized guys with a high floor instead of a high ceiling. That's why we have Ek, while Vancouver has Brock Boeser.

Hate to admit bias, but I agree Phil …. I just can't get over not liking Dumbas game
One silly preseason game in and I was already whining about him under my breath.
he does get stuff done, I can see why people like him, I just can't get myself to, yet.

When Dumba left Spurgeon and Suter were asked to do even more.....with Dumba back they can help on the defense more (Dubes needs all he can get)....both will play within the system and still score almost as much.

Dumba has a cannon shot, that often is off target, but is effective.

He is a D Liability, as he showed last night on their 1st goal.

He scores goals from the blue line, which causes a lot of people to overlook a lot of you just described.

I'm sure it will be a great comfort to everyone to know that Mikko Koivu could be ready for this weekend.

I kept thinking last night …. "we don't seem slow enough, or ploddy enough, and we're not taking any hurtful penalties in our O zone, and we're not all clogged up on our entries"

Then, you reminded me.
So yeah, we got that to look forward to, when ol CAPPY returns.

I did like the look of #41, Johnson.

He kept showing up in a good way.

Soucy wasn't bad either.

Good eye, imo
Soucy was my guy, and I liked Hartmans game
Especially when he SCORED... shortly after beating the absolute snot out a kid who deserved it.

The Parise/Zucc/Donato thing could work.
It could work.
Lets see who gets hurt first.

There are fewer things more gratifying than seeing a kid who deserved it getting the absolute snot beaten out of him.

Oh, it will be Zach without a doubt. I don't think he will last until November.

Oh, and Foligno has earned a place in my heart
The guy just wants to be a good hockey player
He's no great shakes at anything, really … but he'll push the bus if he has to.
You need those types. Guys as good at PK as anyone we've ever had.

Hartman tossed him around like ol Stevie Payne use to rag-doll guys.

Yeah,

On Hartman, I was thinking to myself:
"this is one of our big off-season signings-meh"

And then he blasted that kid for a late hit and scored.
Then I'm thinking, ok, I can can used to this!

Yup, I pretty much agree with all of the above.
I liked Johnson and Soucy and Warner getting physical was nice to see as well.
We could have really solid 3rd and 4th lines, but as usual the problem will be our top 6.
We just don't have scorers up there and if our bottom 2 lines can't pop some in we are in trouble. As in the past, we buzzed around and controlled large portions of the game, but couldn't score. Dallas.......2 good chances 2 goals.....we lose.

Two games, two goals.....no sense in showing off our firepower in preseason right?
