Was wishing we had Seeler about that time.
But Soucy will need to step up in that regard.
And he has.

Stalock isn't the long-term answer, no one is saying he is.

I'm not sure I understand this. As good as he is, why can't he be the long term answer? Is it his size? I know he's small compared to a lot of other goalies, but he moves so well that he covers the net. I don't know enough to analyze goalies, so I want to know why you think this.

Loved Fiala's goal in particular last night and that's not just because I am rapidly becoming a Fiala fan.

First off, the series of events that led up to the goal started off with Parise getting thrown to the ice in front of the goal without the puck. Fiala was trying to feed it from the other side of the crease, but it was no where near Parise. No referee's arm was raised.

Next, Brodin cruises up to the front without the puck and promptly gets his stick slashed in half, has to drop it and go get a new one. Again, no upraised striped arm to be found.

Finally, it was a culmination of how well Fiala has learned to move without the puck. He had the initial chance, got stopped, tried to feed Parise and kept moving. Came around the other side grabbed the loose puck, almost wrapped it in and kept moving. Finally there is a scramble in front of the net, Fiala glides in out of nowhere just long enough to knock the puck in.

He has learned how much easier it is to give up the puck and get it back than it is to try to beat five people.

Its part of why the story is so great
He's undersized
The top NHL goalies move like him, but are MUCH bigger. That's all I'm saying
Ideally, that's what they are all looking for.
When I ramble, its about what the league looks for, what the opinions of others require, etc
Me? Hell yeah he's awesome. Anyone on the planet want him or support him more than me since Day One? Nope.
And that was from St Paul days. He changed the state tournament like no one else ever did. He changed UMDs approach as well when he got there.
I'm saying he isn't the type any NHL franchise would call their #1. Its the industry standard thing. For now, and until we find the GUY, this is the GUY.
I'm just pissed that BB hasn't given in to that right now.

Stalock got thrust into the playoffs vs the Kings, when the goalies fell apart in San Jose.
And he got exposed. If you watched that you know what people are worried about.
Athletic is one thing, but it has to be in combination, these days.
He simply physically does not cover enough net to please NHL franchises.
But bless his heart he's too damn good to not have a job. And that's on him. Love the kid, love his story.
Pray he gets to be our backup even if our franchise guy shows up at some point.

So what will it take for this goalie status to change?

Does new gm come into coach’s office and raise the roof?

The easiest (and dumbest) way to put it for me is: He doesn't have the size and elite athletism to be THE GUY but the dude is an absolute gamer.

And, he's damn good with the puck at his stick and that helps greatly.

Hardest move they will have to make but is needed....Cut Dubes if you can't trade him this offseason. I like the goalie we brought up form the minors better any way. Kap something.

Theres "something" going on that we may never know
Not sure if they are concerned about Dubnyks mental welfare maybe?
But the team is suffering.
I think we understand they are trying to be considerate and kind to a guy who was really good for us for awhile.
But come on. This isn't park and rec hockey.
The Wild have been MORE than supportive and patient.
If the simple numbers aren't enough for you, then for Gods sake, just watch.
I would have thought Guerin's relative newness would have made things easier, but maybe he's deferring on this one to someone.
But I just cannot see it continuing.
The remaining real fans of the Wild may revolt if the forced insertion of Dubnyk doesn't stop soon.
Next game that is blown before it starts …. might be the gas can that is needed.
And by then .. you've blown up all that kind generous thought process you had put into this.
It feels like we're just chasing our tails here. Over one guys feelings and our loyalty pacts.

If Guerin is on the players to get after it and make the playoffs

And Doobs gets put out there on a regular basis

Kind of confusing messages

If they keep running Dubnyk out there every other game regardless of poor results this team will have some real issues to deal with. They were just told that if there was any quit there would be more trades, yet by playing Dubnyk the guy making the line-up card is quitting on the team before they take the ice. Just another double standard that Guerin is going to have break the cycle of if we are to take the next step.

To top it off you can't blame the whole team on the Avs loss. The players, coach, and gm have to know. That is what makes what Guerin said after the Zucker trade so tricky......

Not really. He told the players to get after it, not Boudreau. He told the players to play hard. He didn't BB not to coach stupid.

When the Wild played the Avalanche last Sunday night, 2 goals that Dubnyk allowed were shots that were not screened and both should have been saves.

I wonder if BB is too close to players as is true with many coaches. Dubnyk and his wife were giving a major health hurdle to cross. He has to have been on an emotional roller coaster the past 4 to 8 weeks.

But another BB recognizes the nature of professional sports and would make the tough decisions......Bill Belichick.

Right now, Stalock gives the Wild the best chance for a win.

Just read how it was a big deal that Zucker got put on Crosby’s line

And

20 shifts

Crosby has an assist

They lost to Tampa in OT

The Pens do it every year
Sid needs a new boy toy to freshen things up
Hell, he made Pascual Dupuis a superstahhhhh for awhile.
Guentzel is laid up for awhile
They are one of those good franchises that see need, fill need.
They'll be done with Zucker pretty fast. But they'll give him some rope.

Why doesn't Guerin trade Dubnyk? Take the sharp scissors away from the coach or manager. Like Terry Ryan and Bill Smith shoulda done with Punto.

Adjusts the 10 team no trade list to make it almost impossible.

Zucker is just a fill-in on Sid's line while Jake Guentzel is on the mend.

There's a huge dilemma facing the with regards to trading Dubnyk. Only 1 team was dumb enough to think he was worth a big contract with trade clauses......

Yup, shortly before we got Duby he was dumped by a couple of different teams and demoted to the minors. If it weren't for the Wild his career in the NHL probably would have ended already....

Dubnyk could actually be traded at this point. He can be traded to one of 19 teams and he only has more year at $4.3 million, which isn't that bad for a team needing a goalie.

It had to be close early in the year, as far as a team taking a chance on him
There were some desperate clubs for awhile
Not really, anymore. Sigh
The only way anyone would take him now, with his numbers, is if they were willing to do anything to catch lightning in a bottle like we did with him originally.
You guys are all correct, he was on his way out of the league when he came here, which is why we called him NTG

The games just get bigger and bigger every night
Gotta have them all, after the hole we've dug
(stop me if you've heard this before)
Sitting at 60 pts. Within 5 of about 8 other teams.
