Now is the time of year we play every other day, with a few back to back games thrown in, just to make sure if we manage to squeak in to the playoffs we are burned out from getting there. If we do somehow make it in, we will no doubt be another easy out in the first round. And the beat goes on for the Wild......
Detroit will rebuild and make another run at the cup while we will continue to bask in mediocrity.

Enjoy Fiala people.
This is a real, bonfide star we are watching emerge.
Speed, agility, toughness, and skill.
That will go down as a very good deal. Granny was a good player. This kid can be our game-changer.

The best thing that is being done is using all four shifts.....keeps them somewhat fresh.

Mikko, Staal, and Parise are actually not worn down. Umm maybe give them a day off once in a while to keep it that way? Detroit game would have been ideal.

God damn, Fiala is good!

Do we finally have that mythical goal scorer? You know, the kind of guy that is always on every other team but ours?

Lynn, I think Fiala will very shortly eclipse Gaborik as the best player in the history of this franchise. He can do everything Gaborik did and he can do things Gaborik could never do. He has the same speed and release as Gabby and he can control through traffic and pass the way Gaborik never could. Fiala for Granlund is going to go down as a fleecing.

It sure is fun to have a player that wants the puck on his stick and can create things when it is on his stick. Hoping we can get a good one-two punch next season with Kaprizov to go with Fiala.

Your buddy Dumbo scored twice
Blind squirrel found two acorns?

And Stalock was solid
Those defensemen must have played better in front of him.

Why couldn't he have done that before the deadline?

Kevin Fiala has tallied 17 points (9-8=17) in his last 12 games. He ranks T-2nd in the NHL in PPG (3) and PPP (6), T-3rd in in scoring and goals and T-4th in shots (50) since Feb. 4.

One guy that I really like who seems to produce with very little ice time is Donato.....he must really struggle checking?

Its starting to become apparent he's doing (or not doing) … something that the coaching staff is having issues with.
Because he surely seems to bring what it is we need most nights.
The new puzzler.
I'm pretty in-tune most times to defensive responsibilities on the rink, and I really don't see glaring weaknesses in his game in that regard … so its puzzling to me too.

Evason says there is no beef with Donato. He likes him and his attitude. It's just going through the process of developing a complete game.

Ryan Donato keeps scoring, making case to move up in Wild lineup

By DANE MIZUTANI | dmizutani@pioneerpress.com | Pioneer Press
PUBLISHED: February 26, 2020 at 3:41 p.m. | UPDATED: February 26, 2020 at 3:42 p.m.

It doesn’t matter where Ryan Donato gets put in the Wild lineup. All he does is score. It’s what he’s done his entire life.

He proved that again during Tuesday’s 5-4 home victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets, netting the puck from in front of the goal while being dragged down to the ice.

He has 12 goals this season, and leads the Wild with an average of 1.36 goals per 60 minutes. Yet, somehow, he still finds himself in the bottom half of the lineup most nights.

It’s nothing personal, according to interim coach Dean Evason, who heaped praise on Donato when asked about him earlier this week.

“It’s a learning process,” Evason insisted. “He’s just a young guy that hasn’t gone through the process.”

In other words, Donato needs to work on becoming a more complete player, using his offensive skills to his advantage while continuing to refine his defensive skills on a nightly basis.

“He’s obviously got natural talent to score goals,” Evason said. “He’s got to commit to the areas below the blue line and get pucks out, and stay below pucks in key points in games. He’s learning that process. And it is a process. He’s done great with it.”

Perhaps the most impressive thing is that Donato hasn’t complained at all.

While he has to be frustrated with his playing time, he has remained accessible in the locker room, willing to answer any question reporters might have for him.

Most recently, Donato smiled as he credited linemates Mikko Koivu and Ryan Hartman with helping him continue to improve his game on a nightly basis, his frustration nowhere to be found.

“We are (building) chemistry,” Donato said. “It’s nice to just play a simple game and get rewarded for it.”

In that same breath, Donato joked that it’s intimidating playing with Koivu, whose stoic demeanor has become his calling card over his 1,000-game NHL career.

“He’s a very serious guy,” Donato said. “That’s the way he is. You’ve just got to take his advice and do exactly what he says because he knows the drill. He’s been around long enough, and if I want to be around like him, he’s the type of guy I need to listen to.”

If Donato keeps scoring at this rate, it’s safe to assume Koivu isn’t going to mind him being around.

I said this before
Very smart to play him with those two
VERY smart
(no matter how mad we are at Koivu, he's a taskmaster at positioning in the D zone)
And Hartmans a pro. I think he is underrated and I like him.

So Fenton:
Fiala for Granlund A
Donato for Coyle B (Coyle was a stud for Boston in Playoffs but Donato looks good)
Rask for Nino C (cap savings)

Signed Zuccarello B-, Hartman A, Hunt A

Grabbed Evanson for bench coach A

Too bad he couldn't get along with anyone and couldn't fix Goalie spot.

When’s the last time the Wild forced back to back goalie pulls? Not bad.

Stalock starts back to back? That's allowed too I guess. Nice 5-0 shutout.

Back to back Stalock starts and Koivu stuck on the 4th line.
I doubt we would have ever seen that with BB still coaching. I think he stuck with his vets to a fault.
Evason has at least shaken things up a little and moved some guys around. Mikko still has some game left against 4th liners, but not so much against the best in the league.

Donato and Fiala are dynamic even against the Caps.

Tough game to lose but we didn't back down.

Same thoughts
Gritty effort from damn-near everyone
Only complaint is overusing Dumba, someone wayyyyyyy overvalues him
He and Patteryn were in on almost all of our F-ups.
Give some of the younger guys a look here.
Losing Soucy hurts more than anyone thought it would.
And it'll piss me off when Hunt pays for his return, instead of those two.
Hunt and Spurgeon created offense all night, we get nothing on that end from those others.

Mayhew creates a ton of offense also...he does so much more than Zucker. It certainly was time to move him.

Russo Fact about Donato:

In 10 minutes, 33 seconds of ice time, Donato scored his 14th goal and in 14 shifts had four shots, another four attempted, four hits and a takeaway. There are 163 players with at least 14 goals in the NHL. None has logged anywhere close to as low as Donato’s average of 10:38 a game.

Kunin is coming back in 3 game road trip too.
