20 FGAs, 0 assists, -23 in a 4 point game.

But there’s not 100 players in the league who could do better.

Wiggins comes in and immediately travels before he can get the shot off.

Of course Wigs thinks a contested long two is a good shot in THAT situation...

Those marked spots on the practice floor really paid off.

Really like our depth even w/o the 2nd/3rd star. If only we could of snagged Russell.

Apparently the defensive switch at the end was the suggestion of Covington:

quote:

In an unusual move before Brooklyn’s final possession with 14.5 seconds remaining, Saunders made three substitutions. He took out Jeff Teague, Towns and Wiggins and replaced them with Okogie, Jake Layman and Noah Vonleh. That came at the urging of Robert Covington, who said he suggested to Saunders to get member of the Wolves’ second unit on the floor, a group that helped the Wolves build an 18-point lead in the first half.

“Just by putting our bigger defensive lineup in, ultimately we wanted guys who could switch at all times,” Covington said. “No harm to anybody else, but it was just the guys who played really hard on defense. All can do so many different things, and that's what we needed, especially in that moment.”

Saunders took out Towns because he had five fouls and wanted to prevent him from picking up foul number six in case Brooklyn decided to attack the rim and go for a quick layup. That way he’d at least have Towns for the final offensive possession.

The intangible benefit of Covington. Glad to have him back.

To add to it:

Timberwolves in the 1-point win over the Nets.

They won ummm... in spite of Andrew Wiggins.

Damn, he's put up a lot of those "historic" type nights in his career already.

This is in great contrast to the report I heard this morning. On WCCO radio Dave Lee and Mike Max said they used Wiggins more as a PG last night "and it obviously worked."

I didn't see the game. They said he was bringing the ball up the court more than in the past.

I don't remember him bringing the ball up. They basically gave him the ball at the top of the key and said drive to the hole (I think he had Allen guarding him after picks for a portion of the game). He couldn't hit the broad side of anything last night so he had to get to the rim.

Sure.

Because anytime anyone made the mistake of passing him the ball (in the frontcourt or backcourt), he kept it until he either shot or turned it over.

He couldn't hit anything at the rim either. 4 or 5 of his rebounds were on his own missed point blank shots.

Sounds like blind luck that we won this road game?
