ORIGINAL: Bruce Johnson Dating back to December 15, 2019, Ifeadi Odenigbo has a sack in three consecutive games. (Dustin Baker on Twitter) I am comfortable with Odenigbo being the starter. I don't think we have to draft for a starter, but rather a developmental player who could potentially start in the future or be a solid backup. It's true that it's better when defensive linemen are rotated. I agree but w/o Grif and Weatherly we lack tested depth at a premium position. Can we say we have tested depth at the CB, WR or several positions along the offensive line? If we trade Harris, can we say that we have trusted options to fill that position, as well? We certainly have holes in the roster at this time. I don't expect that we can find more than three starters in the draft. The third round on should provide at best, quality depth, so I'm wondering if the two third round selections be packaged to move up into the back end of the second round. Of course we would need to identify a player and at a position of need plus a team willing to be a trading partner. None of those can be assumed. In the case of Odenigbo, he has had a couple of years to develop and it seemed to me that he was performing at a high level at the end of last year. Perhaps someone already on our roster can develop by the end of the upcoming season. No one in particular stands out in my mind, however. Nevertheless, there probably isn't a team out there that can say they are going to go into the season without some weaknesses. Weaknesses can sometimes be mitigated by scheme. I know that we still have some salary cap room to make another significant move or two. Let's hope for the best and that the team can stay healthy. That is always a key.
