Griffen still has not signed on with anyone so I'm thinking there is still a chance he may come back, but apparently we have options.

Dating back to December 15, 2019, Ifeadi Odenigbo has a sack in three consecutive games.

(Dustin Baker on Twitter)

I am comfortable with Odenigbo being the starter. I don't think we have to draft for a starter, but rather a developmental player who could potentially start in the future or be a solid backup. It's true that it's better when defensive linemen are rotated.

I'm sorry for passing along the false information about the Niners and Cam. I copied someone else reporting the tweet, so I got taken. I'll try to be more careful. Sometimes I'm not so bright.

Nothing to apologize about. Someone used Adam Schefter's name to pass on fake news. Whoever did that is a total loser. You had nothing to do with it and believing a liar does not mean you are not bright. Bruce, thank you for all the excellent stuff you post on here, you are one of the best sources of info on the TalkVikes site.

No problem Bruce

Appears some have too much time on their hands and simply can't resist stirring shit up

I agree but w/o Grif and Weatherly we lack tested depth at a premium position.

I just don't want to use one of our first three picks so that we can have depth at any one position. I am good using one of our two third round picks, though, for sure.

I don't think Grif can handle starter playing time anymore. Last season he really disappeared after week 8 or so.

However, as a rotational player he would be extremely useful.

Not sure what you mean by "tested depth" but we have Zettel.

How about this guy: In his final collegiate season, Xxxx was designated first-team All-Big Ten by the coaches and second-team by the media after leading the Big Ten Conference with 10 sacks on the year.

Unless your philosophy is to build through free agency, you eventually have to start rookies and backups.

Zettel is tested depth after Hunter and Odenbigo. But the only other guy we currently have after that is Yarborough whom is untested being I don't think he has ever even suited up in an NFL game.

If we could bring Grif back in a Robison type role around 3-4ml that would really eliminate the need to draft an edge guy early.

QB pressure is paromount and if either of our starters get dinged we currently don't have much behind them. I guess barr would be a possibilty if Zim would ever use him in this capacity.

Clayborn for 3-4M or Griffen for 7-8M.

Maybe we grab a small school guy in 4th, 5th or 6th. Tuszka(NDSU) Sterk(Montana St.)

Can we say we have tested depth at the CB, WR or several positions along the offensive line? If we trade Harris, can we say that we have trusted options to fill that position, as well? We certainly have holes in the roster at this time.

I don't expect that we can find more than three starters in the draft. The third round on should provide at best, quality depth, so I'm wondering if the two third round selections be packaged to move up into the back end of the second round. Of course we would need to identify a player and at a position of need plus a team willing to be a trading partner. None of those can be assumed.

In the case of Odenigbo, he has had a couple of years to develop and it seemed to me that he was performing at a high level at the end of last year. Perhaps someone already on our roster can develop by the end of the upcoming season. No one in particular stands out in my mind, however. Nevertheless, there probably isn't a team out there that can say they are going to go into the season without some weaknesses. Weaknesses can sometimes be mitigated by scheme.

I know that we still have some salary cap room to make another significant move or two. Let's hope for the best and that the team can stay healthy. That is always a key.

He is another example of be careful what you wish for.

He probably would have made more $$$ not opting out of his contract.

I'm neither wishing for him or against him. My best guess is that if we could fit him into our cap for $8 million a year for the next couple years it wouldn't be a bad thing, but Odin BigO is ready to start so we will be OK without Griffin.

I would love it if the Vikes kept Griffen. Hunter, Griffen and Kendricks were the untouchables on defense for me.

Why are there no contract details for Zettel yet. Has he not signed his contract?

Thank you. I was wondering about him. I liked him. I guess his replacement is this guy. He is our other guy for a cheap contract at DE.
