Assumptions:

Samia will start at RG.
Stephen will start at DT but position will be rotated a bit.
We keep Harris and get some vets as backups for minimum salary.

Nickel CB? Gladney but that leaves Hill and Hughes on the outside. Rather Gladney start outside.
Lots of speed with Wonnum, Dye, Lynch at 3DT.

Maybe the Vikes have penciled Udoh and Samia in at the OG positions. Is our RG not returning?

Dye is way too small to play inside linebacker as a pro

they expect him to go will

but he is that tweener LB/S type player that are the type of player we are seeing more and more of in today's league

Sounds like Kearse replacement.
My son was ecstatic we nabbed him, Rosebowl standout.

Difference between the 81st and 89th is 40 points. The 117th is 60 points. That fourth would have taken us to the 77th pick.

A 7th would have taken us from 105 to 101. Dantzler would have had to fall 12 spots.

I agree with this. We should have moved up in the 3rd and Spielman said he tried but couldn't make a deal. "Teams were not trading early in the 3rd round and couldn't find a partner." A lot of good DTs went in front of us in this round. I think we got sniped there. Then stayed where we were. Took Dantzler there just to make sure we didn't lose him. On the board I had... Dantzler was ranked 132 overall.

I think they wanted Justin Madubuike.

Goal for day 3? Intelligence and the physical ability to develop.

Pager has pick 117 being worth 60 points. I saw that pick 105 was worth 31 points and the picks we got combined were worth 30. Very different charts.

Here's my source.

Your source said it would take the 89, 105 and 117 to move up 8 spots. I'd love to see your source.

Thanks. You're using the traditional Jimmy Johnson Chart. I'm using the updated one.

I like yours better. The 89 plus 117 would net the 70 using this chart. Mine had it only getting us to the 77.

What I like is we’ve added speed and guys who produced

Dye has sick speed. He’ll be a nice toy to use in blitzing situations

Easop Winston, WR, Washington State. Good flyer pick at this point.

#Vikings GM Rick Spielman on Troy Dye: “Long, linear, athlete that has great range to cover the field. I see him coming in and contributing right away not only as a backup but contributing on special teams as well.’’

Flipmazzi
@Flipmazzi
Troy Dye was PFF's 5th best LB in this class. 397 tackles in a 4-year career under 3 different head coaches and defensive coordinators. 21 PBUs and 5 INTs he's a modern day NFL LB,who could turn into a fun box-safety. Undeniable value on special teams here too

Hopefully RS snags Nick Harris or Keith Ismael or both! C/G prospects that could thrive in Kubiak’s zone scheme. Our Oline is in a precarious position - as always.

yeah, I hear ya, but after getting both Gladney and Dantzler, not too worried about a slot corner...

I'd rather grab S if we are looking a db's at this point

And still want to add OG...biggest hole in this draft so far

watch us take 3 OG in the 5th

ha

I like that most of our picks are production picks where "the tape doesn't lie." It's so easy to get enamored w/ measurables and combine stats.

Two most important positions on offense are quarterback and offensive line. We are not particularly good at either.

Recap of 4th:

Wonnum - project DE. Makes sense. I trust Patterson.

Lynch - a Jalyn Holmes type player. Tweener.

Troy Dye - value pick. Athletic LB.

All the while some decent IOL come off the board. I think everyone should go back to their draft positions of need. Where did IOL rank for you?

I did a quick review and the lowest it looked was 3rd. Most had it #1 or #2.

Lemieux and Badass are the last two significant IOL on the board I think.
Lynch was ridiculously productive. Maybe he plays better than his measurables.

Not with packed fans in the stands. There may be a major shift in professional sports venues going forward where they will control fan attendance.
