LMAO Good Morning Football was grading the draft grades. They said Yahoo Sports had the Packers grade right at F, but was wondering if an F- grade was available.

KJ Osborn is going to bring juice to the return game, and versatility to the offense (in spots).

He’s the player Cordarrelle Patterson was, but drafted with the appropriate equity.

(B Hawkes on Twitter)

His Punt Return numbers are incredible. His Kick Off return numbers are poor.

Kickoff guys are not too hard to find. Abdullah remains a reasonable option. I agree that Osborn probably will not be our kickoff guy.

Most kickoffs are not returned anyway these days.

Why is one player a great punt returner and lousy kickoff returner and vice versa. Seems like a very similar skillset needed for both. However, it was consistent. Three years in a row a great punt returner. Three years in a row a lousy Kickoff returner.

Punt return man has to secure a punt which is higher in the air and more subject to wind and sun. Then he might be blasted a split second after it comes down. After that, he has to show more wiggle and quickness than speed. Patterson never collected punts. It's a different skill set. Some can do both, but it's not that common.

Quartney Davis looks like this year's Dillon Mitchell:

https://youtu.be/hLZQa16wRX4

He looks GREAT on film ! I like the quickness, the adjustments to the ball and with defenders. And one of the TDs, doing a Moss and not looking back until the last second.

Almost looks like a little taller Diggs at times.

I know we have some Ducks fans here, any thoughts on Brady Aiello?

Any Sioux Falls/Augustana people with any thoughts on Jake Lacina?

Played all over the line and a lot in a rotation.
That being said, he always seemed to get
beat out by a better player.
A better option would have been Calvin Throckmorton
who did the same, only much better and often started.

Thanks for the reply. Does not sound super promising. Where is Kurt, isn't he a Ducks fan also?

And do we have no Sioux Falls people here? I am sure Lacina is a practice squad candidate at best, but he was the best Center in D2 last year and that sounds pretty good. And everyone always talks about blood lines. I would guess Lacina also grew up a Vikings fan, so that is always nice.

Returned punts in H.S. It's literally catching a knuckle ball, floating 50 ft up in the air, while trying to keep an eye on incoming traffic. Tracking the ball takes tremendous focus and sure hands. But you also have to be deciding if you're gonna fair catch it and if you don't, what you are gonna do with it. I caught a pitcher in high school that had a pretty good split finger. I thought that was easier than returning punt

He did look pretty good. He ran a just OK 4.54 40, but he looked faster than that. I think some GMs overvalue 40 times when you can see functional speed on the game tape. If Davis runs a 4.44, he probably goes in the 4th round. He still has a tough road to get on the 53, but I can see why he was our most sought after UDFA.

Nugget in there that Minnesota/Spielman call and tried to trade up to Tampa's first round slot from 22.

I don't understand, when you go to such great links to sign a guy(big signing bonus), why you don't just draft him.

I think it's just money. It doesn't count against the cap. Vikings gave a record UDFA deal to Browning IIRC. Also it was a great FU to the Cowpukes.

So are you saying we need even more seventh rounders? Rick agrees. I think the argument last year was even better when they drafted the LS super late and then had to pay Browning a bunch. This year, it is harder to see which player should not have been drafted.

But if they draft him, he'd get a certain amount based on his draft slot, so should be indifferent cap wise. I'd think it would come down to drafting the player that is less likely to sign with you as UDFA. I admit I'm totally guessing.

Interesting tidbit I just found out. The Vikings Drafted 2 of the last 4 WRs to win Rookie of the Year. Harvin in 2009 and Moss in 1998. Maybe Jefferson can continue that.

That will probably depend on health and what happens with every other WR on the roster. At this point ONLY Theilen and Jefferson should consider themselves safe to make the roster.

I'd love for enough WR talent to materialize such that Bisi drops a spot or two. He's been reliable, but I hope we can do better.

Agreed, but Sharpe I think is close to a lock. Bisi was good for a 7th round pick last year, but IMO he should be a 4th WR at best. Hopefully Mitchell and Davis can take the 4th 5th spots.

I am afraid for Mitchell...he is going to have to really gain some ground. Behind Bisi, Hollins, Treadwell, and Beebe last year.

I am afraid for Mitchell...he is going to have to really gain some ground. Behind Bisi, Hollins, Treadwell, and Beebe last year.

i know that Davis was undrafted, but he really looks impressive to me...he plays like his 6'-3" and has plenty of speed - also, plays with great confidence....
