VS the replacements we have available at this time I see him as making a 2 game difference. He had to opt out IMO. Asthma and pneumonia history with a respiratory disease is not a good match.

Ladies and gentlemen, our short, regional nightmare is over.

When the Minnesota Vikings’ veterans reported to camp on Tuesday, running back Dalvin Cook was with them, ending the speculation that he would hold out. He had said earlier this offseason that Cook would not participate in any team activities until he received a “reasonable” contract extension offer.

This also brings an end to the game of “telephone” that happened over this past weekend, where Cook’s agent and Mike Zimmer went back and forth about whether or not the head coach had spoken with Cook about his intention of reporting to camp.

Cook is in the final year of his four-year rookie contract, and with the new rules that the NFL has put forth concerning COVID-19 Cook now only has to play in one game to pick up an accrued season to allow him to hit unrestricted free agency before the 2021 season if the Vikings do not sign him to an extension before then.

Hopefully the Vikings and Cook can work something out, whether it’s during the preseason or the actual season itself. For now, however, the star running back is officially in the fold and will not be holding out.

So we have that going for us. Which is nice.

Status: offline 		Problem is this report reiterates that all Dalvin has to do is play one game to accrue a season and next year he can be a free agent. By reporting today and playing the first game leverage will shift from the Vikings to Cook.

looking at spotrac; pierce's cap hit this year was designed to be $5m - we are now having to pick up only the prorated signing bonus part which is $2m...the contract is pushed off one season, but the final year does not have a signing bonus added into the cap number any longer because we're being charged for it this season....

i'm not implying that i can reconcile this with the language of the cba, or that i understand it, but this is what spotrac is indicating....

Status: offline 		Unless we pick up a free agent nose tackle, the way I see it, Johnson should start and Stephen should backup him at that position. Watts makes the most sense to start at 3 tech. On passing downs, Odenigbo can move inside next to Watts with Barr and Hunter rushing the passer from the outside. That's what I would do, but you know I always like to see rotations along the defensive line.

imo there is nobody here, or on twitter at this moment, that seems to understand the pandemic cba and how it affects cook's position with the team....

if what you are stating is true, then i think we should expect cook to hold out after the first game of the season....

I agree NT would be Jaleel and Stephen. 3T will be Watts, Stephen and some combination of the youngsters.

The run game was not great last year, declined significantly from 2018. Destroyed us in the Niners game. How much of it was the play of NT and how much of it was 3T? He had joseph under contract for about what we are paying Pierce but we thought adding Pierce was an upgrade?

IDK.

I just can't see getting too much from rookies with such an abbreviated off-season. No preseason games now. Sigh.

For what it's worth, when I was in the ventilator I had a clear dream that the Vikings began the season with three victories.

1st round pick, WR Justin Jefferson tested positive for Covid today. He will be out 10-14 days in critical practice time for the Vikings. Sad to see it, so Chad Beebe better be ready. Someone has to step into the #2 slot.

We need to pump our breaks on this one. Whoever "Vikefans" is, he needs to be much more careful in his tweets.

Jefferson was added to the COVID-19 Reserve list. That does not automatically mean he tested positive:

The COVID-19 reserve list is for players who tested positive or were in close contact with a carrier of the virus. The league does not allow teams to disclose whether players are in the first or second of those two groups.

Status: offline 		The Superbowl is in Tampa this year? The NFL should build an extra week or two into the back end of the season in case COVID forces some postponement of games. They could be pushed back to the end of the season or cancelled (if the game has zero impact on playoffs).

DL, LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

Chargers signed Joey Bosa to a five-year, $135 million contract extension.
The deal includes $102 million guaranteed, the new NFL record among defensive players. Since coming into the league as the third pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Bosa has done nothing but live up to lofty expectations. He's averaged 10.0 sacks per season through his first years despite missing 20% of his possible regular-season games due to injury. When Bosa is fully healthy, there are maybe four pass-rushers better, so it's no surprise to see the Chargers hand him the keys to the franchise. Per PFF, Bosa has the highest pass-rush grade and pass-rush win rate over the last three seasons.

does anyone know what the final roster size is?...is it larger than 53?....
