Outside of a couple of outliers, over the last 5 years every team in the NFL has had an average age from 25 to 26.9.

Unless it's extreme, the whole age thing doesn't matter. Release a player like Newman and your team's age goes down a half year while dropping 10 spots in the rankings.

I'm more interested in the age of the starting lineups. Teams always have a sizable contingent of young players filling depth and ST roles, which brings the team average down. How old are the guys who play most of the time?

There are more than 22 players who play on game day. Of course you can have a 40 year old kicker and it won't affect the vitality of the team so much. For me the age of the defense is the most important question. Offensive linemen and quarterbacks can be older, but on defense it's definitely a young man's game.

2 additional roster spots this year from 53 to 55. Plus 2 more PS spots.

12 plus 55 means 67 total players, but in two years the practice squad will be 14 players. Do I have it right?

The 55 roster is a misconception I think. Teams will be able to get to 55 by borrowing 2 players from the PS each week. So I think Roster 55 plus 10 PS makes 65. I could be confused about this a bit.

To give you some perspective on how infrequently Tajaé Sharpe was utilized in the Titans offense..

WR Targets, 2019:

Bisi Johnson, MIN = 45
Tajaé Sharpe, TEN = 35

There’s talk that sharpe doesn’t make the team with Jefferson and Davis in the fold....

Prior to Mike Zimmer's arrival, the Vikings had 20 or fewer turnovers in a season twice in team history: 1998 and 2009.

Since his hire, they have had 20 or fewer turnovers in every single season.

The third receiver on should be active on special teams. I don't know if Sharpe has a history of reps on special teams. Maybe, if he was the #4 guy last year.

Sharpe makes the team. we can use a guy like him. Way better than Treadwell ever was!

I predict Thielen, Jefferson, Sharpe, Q. Davis, Bisi, and KJ Osborn all make the team.

The endless positive stats that Dustin Baker digs up are interesting at face value. But I've reached the conclusion that for almost every positive one, there's an equally negative one left unsaid.

If you believe this than you should have no worries whatsoever about the Vikings OL.

The Vikings last year featured a three wide receiver set only 21% of the time, which was the lowest in the NFL. That was partly because of the injury to Thielen, but what has to be pointed out is that we didn't have a slot receiver very much. Jefferson is going to have to get used to lining up wide with the Vikings.

Cleveland had 2100 snaps at LT in college. That is where he will be more comfortable and it doesn't make sense to move him in for one year and then outside next. That will hold back his development. If Cleveland isn't ready to start, then Hill can start game one and Reiff can focus on LG. (or Udoh)

Isn't that more indicative that we would be in the 3 wide receiver set more in 2020 (going forward) because we now have a slot receiver in Jefferson?

I don't think so. Both Thielen and Diggs are experienced Slot receivers. We picked Jefferson in spite of his slot experience not because of it.

Diggs is gone, but one factor is our two tight end sets, which I like because it's tough for the defense to know in advance if the tight ends will be blocking or be pass receivers. I was wondering how often Irv Smith Jr. or perhaps a running back like Abdulah go wide with a wide receiver in the slot. Does that happen? That's no more wild than a Wildcat formation where the quarterback goes wide, but that's just a gadget play. Smith going wide might be viable and it would put a wide receiver who likes the slot in the slot. I don't know. I'm just rambling. I think the real point is that Thielen and Jefferson will have to go wide most of the time.

He likely has already made the squad. Our coaching staff isn't exactly known for holding competitions for starting spots or roster spots.

If the off-season does become abbreviated, then Sharpe's chances of making the roster are much improved.

We'd have to trade for him since he's under contract this year. His salary is 2.8M. I would love his 4.22 speed but how often do we go 3 WR sets?

I don't think Bengals want to trade him and take another weapon from their rookie QB. 5th year option would have cost them 16M and guaranteed if injured. He hasn't produced enough to warrant that and they can always use the franchise tag if he turns it around.

Yeah I knew we had to trade for him, but since they declined the 5th year I thought they may be willing to let him go cheap. I'm shocked to hear that his 5th year would be $16 million. Bengals might be willing to trade him for something rather than lose him for nothing.
