I think the main reason I would want the number 1 pick this year is to possibly trade it. Just need one team to fall in love with a player.

100%.

I would take Okongwu or Vassell over probably any other player in this draft, but some team will give up way too much to select Edwards, Wiseman or Ball.

I believe that we might get one of those players lower in the draft. If we get a top pick, I would like us to trade down for a player and another draft pick. I think certain teams are going to over value big name players.

Good news. Too bad it's not a better draft.

I've been wanting them to lose so the pick is #15. Now it's looking like 17.

For what it's worth I mostly post at RealGM regarding the Wolves and there is a large group favoring Vassell for our first pick, but hoping to get him in a trade back. Others getting strong support are Avdija, Hayes and Edwards. I'm in a small minority favoring Okongwu.
Tankathon has us getting sniped on Pokusevsky by the Cetltics now and us going after MD PF Jalyn Smith with pick 17. A good sized PF 6'10" rebounds and blocks shots very well. Shoots well from everywhere including 3. Poor passer or just a black hole when he gets the ball. Anybody know more about him?

The NBA draft is in the middle of October. Pretty late this year, but I guess it's only two months away now.

I have not been following the playoffs at all, but I hope that the Bucks win it all.

Wait. The playoffs haven't even started? That shows my level of interest.

I'm going to be very bummed out when the Wolves have the opportunity to draft Okongwu and don't do it.

We got the #1 pick in the draft in a year that nobody knows who #1 is.

My money is on us taking Edwards if we don't trade the pick.

Congratulations to the Timberwolves. It seems that they have been luckier as of late than their earlier years when if there were two really great players they would draft number three. Or is it more of the same? Perhaps this year when there might be no great players they get the number one pick. Regardless. They have zero chance of wining a championship next year. That's 0.0%.

I just looked at his 3%, Under 30. Unless Tankathon has it wrong he can't shoot and he has a history of being uninterested in defending.
He's also only 6'5". I officially don't want Edwards. Or Ball.

Not at all surprising that we get the top pick in a draft where there is nobody to get excited about.

Yeah it seems like our luck. We should have had Shaq.

Givony has us taking Ball.

1. Minnesota Timberwolves

LaMelo Ball
Illawarra
G
Age: 18.9

A backcourt of Ball and D'Angelo Russell might be one of the worst defensive pairings in the league, but to speed up their rebuild, the Timberwolves need to continue to stockpile star power. No one in this draft class has more of that than Ball. His size makes him easy to pair with another guard, and teammates will love his tremendous passing creativity and the way he empowers others. Ball does not turn 19 until the end of August, leaving considerable room for him to improve his perimeter shooting and defense.

I like Ball better than any of the other projected top guys, but I'd still rather trade the pick.

Not a lot to want from the teams right below us.

I guess I'd try to get Mitchell Robinson and the #8 from the Knicks.

Not a bad idea, but would Robinson be nothing but a back up for KAT? I think I'd rather get Barrett and #8.

Would #1 and Beasley get us Booker and #10? We'd have to do something to match salaries.

If this was a better draft, maybe we could try for Ben Simmons, but we'd likely have to include a couple more #1s.

I guess I'd consider John Collins and Kevin Huerter for the pick. But we'd be even worse defensively. But Collins would really help with our rebounding woes and we'd be adding teo very good 3pt shooters.

I really want Mitchell Robinson (and I someone to punch Rosas in the face until he agrees to play KAT next to a stud defensive big...)

Really hope we don't take Edwards. He's a beast in transition, but doesn't really give you anything else.

That's a lot of red marks.

And its tough to get excited about his best attribute being his age...
