Never seen either player on the court. But it appears Edwards would be the better fit next to Russell.

Sounds like Edwards can give us scoring punch and can create his own shot. just hope he isn't a black hole when he gets the ball.

Unfortunately Edwards creates an incredible amount of bad shots.

What kind of potential do you think he has?

Could he develop into dare i say a Durant? edit: poor man's Durant.

Not even close. He doesn't come close to Durant in size, shooting ability or BBIQ.

Best case: Probably Victor Oladipo.
More likely: Dion Waiters.

The more I read about the prospects, the more I hope that the Wolves trade for a veteran even if they have to sweeten the pot. I hope that they get the best player, but I am the wrong person to offer my opinion, actually. I do believe that chemistry is important, so I would ask the question about how a certain player would fit with the others in every way. On the court and off.

I also think that defense is underrated. It doesn't sell tickets, but it wins playoff games. If I had to choose a player I would want at least a willing defender, but hopefully better than that.

Dane Moore of Zone Coverage and various sidekicks do some very good analysis of the draft prospects. He often disagrees with me and he has somewhat got me to change my mind on a couple players. Here he is doing Haliburton and Nesmith. I come away liking Haliburton a bit less.
https://zonecoverage.com/2020/podcasts/dane-moore-nba-podcast-how-tyrese-haliburton-and-aaron-nesmith-would-fit-the-timberwolves-w-will-deberg/
He also did Okongwu in another and I came away liking him a bit less also. Try the link and you'll find others.

Here's the Podcast going very in depth on Edwards and Wiseman.
https://zonecoverage.com/2020/podcasts/dane-moore-nba-podcast-how-anthony-edwards-james-wiseman-would-fit-the-timberwolves/
I've got to face the possibility that the people who like Edwards aren't totally stupid. That's going to be hard for me LOL. I'm going to try to listen with an open mind.

Their review of Edwards was pretty much the things I've been hearing all around. They excuse his poor shooting percent due to taking terrible shots. They think on the Wolves that he will no longer be the primary ball handler so he won't be forcing so many shots. As for Defense they say when motivated he can actually bring it, but he's motivated for defense only in the big games against Kentucky or such. They excuse his lackadaisical defense on being 18. It's possible he could be great. I've got to just hope for that on the chance that we take him.

Regarding Wiseman Moore and his sidekick both agree there is very little chance the Wolves draft a center, but if the Wolves do draft a center Wiseman would be exactly the type of Center we would draft. They like his size, agility, coordination and shot.

Forgive me if this has been posted, but this is a video of the Wolves reaction to getting the number one pick.

Which means there will be a few Gems such as Giannis and Gobert but they were picked in the middle of rd1.

This is a very good YouTube with Edwards. He demonstrates some good basketball knowledge.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPa8o9mkhMo&t=1s
Watching the film breakdown with Edwards and Schmitz I see what many love about him. He has ridiculous skills and an NBA plus body. If we do draft him I'm going to be his biggest supporter and hope he lives up to the potential.

He is the pick if we keep it. Great skills and attitude. I really nice fit. I do NOT trust LeMelo.

Don't the Wolves need more help at the forward position? I know it's probably better to get the most talented player, but it feels like we are already pretty heavy at guard.

I think the bigger issue is that there really isn't anything beyond Towns to hang their hats on. There are some decent depth players, but not much bridging the gap between Towns and those players. I'm not at all sold on Russell as a second star.

But can Edwards be that 2nd star?

It's one thing to dominate at the college level but he doesn't look all that special in that you tube link KG posted.

Seems like a smart kid and is still really young (18).

The reigning MVP came out of that draft. No matter how good or bad a given class is, there are good players to be had. The teams that good at homework tend to find them.

Are the Wolves questionable when it comes to developing talent? So many lottery picks- so few stars. Are there players that started here, but did much better for another team? Maybe not.

I agree Bruce. I'm hoping for Wiseman or Okongwu.

His athleticism is off the charts and he has more moves than Ex-Lax. His shooting form is great. If he quits taking so many pullup jump shots his percents will go up. He's not the pick I want, but he has skills.

Not really.

Stars shine. Despite bad teams. Despite bad coaching.

Most top picks go to bad teams. The stars always figure it out.

Not so sure about the attitude.

It was a huge red flag to me when he said he didn’t try hard in a lot of games because things were too easy. And that against NBA competition he’ll always try hard.

First. That sounds a lot like a Wiggins excuse.

Second. They lost a lot of those games where he didn’t try. That tells me volumes about his character and that winning isn’t paramount to him.

He strikes me as a guy looking to make highlights. He wants the flashy scoring plays. He also has worse “do shit” numbers than Wiggins did in college.

Agreed. The Wolves issues are in drafting the wrong players to begin with.

1. Killian Hayes

Interesting prospect. Never heard of him but played in Germany this past season

The more I evaluate things the more I'm convinced that Wiseman is the right choice. He's like a much taller and bigger Chris Bosh.
I love Okongwu like most of us, but Wiseman's upside IMO is so much higher because of the extra height/reach, better ball handling, and the chance that he can develop an outside shot. I think that Trumps Okongwu's likely superior perimeter D.
Hopefully we draft him and KAT will just have to figure out how to coexist with him.
