MOST COMMON PICKS
No. 1 (Timberwolves): Anthony Edwards (8)
No. 2 (Warriors): James Wiseman (6)
No. 3 (Hornets): LaMelo Ball (3)
No. 4 (Bulls): Deni Avdija, LaMelo Ball, Killian Hayes (2)
No. 5 (Cavaliers): Deni Avdija (5)
No. 6 (Hawks): Tyrese Haliburton (3)
No. 7 (Pistons): Killian Hayes (3)
No. 8 (Knicks): Devin Vassell (3)
No. 9 (Wizards): Onyeka Okongwu, Isaac Okoro, Tyrese Haliburton (2)
No. 10 (Suns): Killian Hayes (3)
No. 11 (Spurs): Aaron Nesmith, Patrick Williams (3)
No. 12 (Kings): Cole Anthony, Saddiq Bey, Patrick Williams (2)
No. 13 (Pelicans): Saddiq Bey, Patrick Williams (2)
No. 14 (Celtics): Cole Anthony (3)

Most common (above): Pick at which the player is most commonly projected, with number of mock drafts in parentheses. For example, Anthony Edwards is projected to go 1st in eight of the 10 mock drafts listed below.

Nice link. It seems like the pundits are all following in step with each other. Not one vote for Wiseman or Okongwu to us. As much as I don't like Edwards at 1 I like Ball even less and he got the other two votes.

I was wondering if everybody might make it official who they think our best 5 choices are and we could look at it again when the draft comes close.
Mine are
Wiseman
Okongwu
Avdija
Edwards (coming around on him)
Toppin

I think it's more as to whom has the most value. NBA draft is a bit different from the NFL in that teams at the very top don't draft for need but try to aquire the biggest asset. The player then can be traded.

The more I think about it the more I believe that Atlanta will succumb to pressure and offer us a Godfather deal for Edwards. It will include Reddish or Hunter our preference, #6 in the draft and a future lottery protected first. I think we take it. I feel I already posted this, but I looked and didn't see it.

I just can not work up any excitement about this draft. Easily the most apathetic I've ever been for a Wolves draft - and in a year we actually moved up to #1...

Edwards: Meh.
Ball: Meh.
Wiseman: Double Meh.

Hayes would at least pique my interest a little bit, but I'm far from sold on him.

Okongwu and Vassell I like a lot. Would be happy with either. Also don't think either will ever be a star. I think they top out at very good (maybe even elite) roleplayers.

I could maybe see a path where Okongwu could become someone akin to Siakim. Vassell, maybe a poor man's Danny Green.

I also don't think the #1 pick has nearly the trade value it would in most other years. There just isn't a surefire stud at the Top.

In other words, the year the Wolves were destined to move up and grab #1 for the first time ever.

Does seem a lot like Wiggins and Bennett years....Uugh. Hope Rosas can pull off some magic.

I agree. I can't even manufacture any excitement about it. I see nothing in this draft that moves the meter for the Wolves. Unless there is a player that another team has fallen in love with, I don't see an impactful trade happening.

Possibly the worst part of all this is the salary implications on the top pick.

However, sometimes a meh draft like this can surprise. At least I hope so.

Not even close. You're only on the hook for 2 years and about 20M total.

Its basically a short MLE contract with extra years of control at the team's choosing.

A 10M/year contract to a capped out team is the least of the potential worries.

The problem comes if the player falls on that border line of whether or not he is good enough to pick up the option.

Even then the 3rd and 4th year are separate options that don't need to be picked up until part way into the seasons before.

You really aren't going to get hurt until the 2nd contract. And if you overpay a guy after having him on your team for 4-5 years, that's on you.

Really the only time you hear about teams not wanting a 1st round contract is if they're a contender with a loaded roster and don't want to add another guaranteed contract.

And really the only team that routinely did that was the Spurs. And they regularly drafted better player sin the 2nd round than most lottery picks...

Very true. The Wiggins extension was the horrible contract.

Hey that's not fair. He promised Glen that he would really try.

I virtually guarantee you that a great player will come out of this draft. We just have to figure out who it is because we have first shot at getting it right.

Maybe a better way of looking at finding the best player is we have the 17th chance to pick the right one.

I'm all for turning our top pick, maybe even the 17th and some current players as well to get the best established player we can.
This draft is filled with huge question marks or red flags if you will. I normally love every player, this year I hardly like any especially in the top 3 picks.

I trust Rossas will make the right choice, but I am hoping for a trade to bring in a young high end starter.

The more I look at it, the less I like Wiseman or anyone else and the more I want to trade out of the pick. Something tells me that the best player(s) out of this year's draft will fall outside the top 10.

Interesting take. Gives you 50 players to get it right instead of just 10, but at a lower probability per player. I'll go with the top 10 and put a $1 or a little more on it. Winner determined by rookie of the year. Deal?

We don't have the ammo.

Washington isn't going to want our 2023 and 2025 picks.
