I suppose it could make sense to go back to 154 games and add in another round off playoffs. The players would play less games and make the same money and owners make more money. Pay the players more playoff money if that makes sense.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that MLB went to a 16 team playoff. They lost a ton of revenue this year.

I'd like to see them play fewer regular season games and a 16 team playoff starting in mid August on a permanent basis. There would be more competition, more meaningful games and way fewer teams selling off their good players. You eliminate a meaningless month where the playoffs are pretty well set and teams are auditioning minor leaguers.

I don't disagree, but make the first round 5 games instead of 3.

Salary cap too please.

Agreed. Quarters and semis would be best of 5. LCS and World Series would be best of 7.

154 games is still too long. The WS is still being played in November.

Attendance will increase in the shortened season so I don't think revenue will take that big of a hit. They'll also save expenses with a shortened season. Interest in the sport will benefit and everyone will win because of it.

Kep with a HR on 1st pitch of the season! Picking up a pizza, but wanted to wait to listen to 1st pitch in the parking lot. Good thing I did!

I wouldn't want my team eliminated by mid-August. It would suck for those fans. Bad idea.

In a 162 game season more than half the teams are eliminated by Aug1. Their fans get the joy of riding out 2 months of meaningless games. My plan is a great idea. Your resistance to it is dumb.

The timing could be argued but the idea of a shorter season and a longer playoff isn't bad.

Start the Season May 1. End of season Aug 31. Playoffs done by mid October. Play 100 games in 123 days. 1 week off for All Start during 4th of July week.

That sounds perfect.

That was fun!

I was pleasantly surprised with the piped in noise. To me it was a mild white noise that filtered out nicely. Good deal - glad to be wrong about that one.

I'm not a fan of baseball being played until November especially in open air stadiums like Target Field. The playoffs involve only a few teams and the regular season incorporates all of the teams. If the goal is to make money, then they should increase the number of games in the regular season and then shorten the playoffs.

Playoffs make way more money than regular season games. Expand the playoffs and you generate more revenue for the league. You have bigger crowds during the regular season because more teams are fighting for playoff spots. The games that are dropped are the poorly attended games during the dog days of the season.

As
@NickNelsonMN
pointed out, the #MNTwins are on pace for 140 HR in 60 games this season.

That's a 378 HR pace per 162 games.

They set an
@MLB
record in 2019 with 307 HRs

No player in #MNTwins history has recorded 12 total bases and 7 RBI in one game.

Projections like that will be inflated due to the fact that the season started in warm weather and the ball travels better when warm. There won't be any games played in the 30's and 40's until the playoffs.

Also a slight factor could be that guys are fresh and healthy in July this year where there would normally have been some injuries and fatigue 100+ games into the season.

I have an idea for how the Twins should do their cardboard cutouts. Stage a Beatles day and recreate the album cover from Sargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in the stands behind home plate.

Matt should email Dave St. Peter. They listen to him.

Nelson Cruz, first Player of the Week in the American League

Duh!

Guy has been an absolute pleasure to watch
I thought Thome was fun, this guy has been off-the-charts AMAZING
Come sup late in games, after just destroying our opponents all day, and you say "he can't keep this up" BOOM. Gone. Again.
Guys just been on a TORRID tear for like 15 months now. Its ridiculous.

Murf's got it coined perfectly

NoPauer

Jake Cave up there in the leader board with six rbi's as well.

But rbi's aren't important

Polanco among leaders in runs scored.

Will benefit from Donaldson in front of him and Cruz behind him. No doubt.

Cruz leads in

Total bases
Runs Scored
home Runs
RBI's
Tied for first in hits
