ORIGINAL: kgdabom Back when we acquired Maeda I was of the opinion that Maeda could be our best starting pitcher and I don't recall one person who agreed with me. It's starting to look very possible. I was all for the trade. I don't expect him to be our best though. I still expect Berrios to be our best, but I think there is a very good chance that Maeda is our best. I think it's very possibly he is. We shall see. Adjustments will be the key for Maeda, especially vs CHI and CLE they will try to make some, and he will have to as well, 2nd and 3rd time facing off. Yep, Maeda is a good pitcher, but he is not going to throw 6 shut out innings every time. What works in his favor is that he seems to have 4 pitches that he can throw for a strike in any count. Smalley was talking about it last night. The gist, if I get this right, was that hitters know what pitches a given pitcher has. Hitters want to to able to eliminate certain pitches to look for in a given situation. Maeda doesn't allow them to that because he commands all of his pitches and can throw any pitch in any situation. Yep. Quite possibly he will be our best pitcher this year and he's a guy I would have no problem with starting a playoff game against the Skankees or Dodgers. Maeda and Hill are our best pitchers. No questions so far. Berrios has a long ways to go and it is even more obvious with Dobnak, Maeda, and Hill pitching so well right off of the bat.
