No. He'll take up too much cap space for what he provides.

Jonas Brodin gets a $42M contract extension from the Wild

What am I missing? The guy simply is not that good.

$6 mil a year for minimum-wage production

He can't carry Spurgeon's jock as far as impact on the game goes.
Someone in the org has always loved him more than they should
Is he terrible, no
Is he a bad guy, no
Is he talented, yes
Is he currently worth that money? no

Watch Johan Klingberg play for the Stars for awhile

THATS what your expensive Swedish Defenseman is SUPPOSED to play like

I'm guessing the signing of Brodin pretty much guarantees Dumba will be the guy on the trading block now.

I think I speak for everybody when I say that WE ALL HOPE THIS IS THE CASE!

I get that Dumba has gotten a ton of positive press over his actions on behalf of social justice and I respect the hell out of him for it. The problem is that he is still a God awful hockey player, who makes way too much money.

Wild trade Staal to Buffalo for Marcus Johansson.

A precursor to a bigger move for a top center maybe?
I have to believe Guerin didn't just trade a center for yet another left winger without some kind of plan.

Johansson is center. I don't know why he is listed as a LW when he has played 90% of his career at center. He is younger and a lot faster than Staal. If they don't want to keep him after the season, he clears another $1.25 million over what Staal would have.

The reports I heard was Buffalo moved him to LW because he played terrible at center. I hope it works out.....

I actually like the two moves they made....hopefully the offseason doesn't finish w/o Dubes gone. As much as everyone complains about our 4 lines our best times in the last 5 years were when Dubes was hot but he hasn't been a very good playoff goalie....

I don't know. It may have been a system issue. I read that Evason had coached him a few years ago with the Capitals.

Here is Guerin's take on Johansson with Buffalo and the Wild:

“They’ve got a pretty good No. 1 centerman there,” Guerin said, referring to Sabres superstar Jack Eichel, “and sometimes it’s just not a great fit. But I think Marcus fits well with us, and he’s going to get a lot of opportunity. Dean knows him very well from Washington and believes he can be an impactful centerman. He’s going to get that opportunity.”

Here is the thing about Johansson. He is a lot, lot faster than what he typically trot out at center. His game is supposedly as a play maker. If Guerin can't get a true top 2 center to play with guys like Kaprizov and Fiala, he is going to get centers who can play fast and are at least decent passers. Johansson could fit that bill. If he doesn't, $4.5 million will drop off the payroll at the end of the year.

I think this also signals that the Wild decided on Kunin as a wing, instead of a center.

So Russo was throwing out some Dumba rumors as well as mentioning Parise, Dubes, Greenway, Kunin, and Donato aren't untouchable.

Jets, Canucks, Toronto, and TB are hot after Dumba. Jets are willing to trade Roslovic, Ehlers, and Laine to improve. Russo threw out Sean Monahan from Calgary too.

Also Russo says Mikko won't be re-signed.

Also Russo mentioned a couple possible buyouts that would actually be reasonable (Dubes and Rask) but Rask is a good backup option at Center according to Russo.
