Just watched MLB Network Top 10 catchers RIGHT NOW. Garver #9 according to The Shredder. I think Brian Kenny ranked him something like #7.

More interesting was the mid-show segment when Brian Kenny and Bob Costas ranked the Top 10 catchers in the divisional era (1969 to present).

They had the exact same 10 names.

But Costas had Mauer 4th and Kenny had him 10th. Surprised by the lack of respect Kenny had for Mauer.

Now watching CFers.

Costas has Kirby 4th. Kenny has Kirby 7th.

Again, they had the exact same 10 names.

I'm not sure why Jim Wynn didn't make it? Must be because he had some great years pre-1969. Seems like a stupid technicality to me.

Both rank Trout 1st and Griffey Jr 2nd.

One player each team should extend:

Twins: Byron Buxton, CF (age 27)
Under club control through: 2022

His counting numbers are never going to reflect his actual value to the organization, so maybe they wrap him up with a contract that shows his true worth to this team.

Under a month before first official work out

Holes to fill

Weird offseason "effort" by the Twins.

One knock

Obviously, the other is health.

Which is the only reason Jake Cave has an above average chance of making the team. Celestino is the "next" potential CF.
Other than that they have Whitefield, who still can't hit.
Haven't developed well again...what a surprise.

So, do you extend him? nope. He's nearly invaluable, true, but hasn't earned it IMO.

Baseball America top 10 Twins prospects

1. Kirilloff
2. Lewis
3. Larnach
4. Jeffers
5. Duran
6. Balazovic
7. Sabato
8. Canterino
9. Enlow
10. Celestino

4 pitchers NONE of them saw time in the majors last year. ONE of them spent all that time in St. Paul.

Development of pitching still stinks in this organization.

#MNTwins prospects on
@BaseballAmerica
2021 Top 100:

18. Alex Kirilloff
29. Royce Lewis
39. Trevor Larnach
60. Ryan Jeffers

All 4 of them should play in the bigs. Play them or trade them. No reason to leave them in the minors if they're top 100 material.

The @UST_Baseball family is shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of former Tommie Baseball player Tom Kelly Jr. TK was a pitcher on the 2001 NCAA National Championship team. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family & friends during this difficult time.

One year deal for 11 mil for a guy that's won 2 Cys.

Really Twins FO. Couldn't match or beat that?

11 mil is cheap for a two time Cy Young winner. Yes he's been hurt, but if he gives the Yanks a good year, even just solid, it will have been a bargain.

The risk is the injury history.

I don't think that would have been too big a risk considering the Twins paid Micheal Pineda to rehab for a year.

We wouldn't have got him for 11M.

According to league sources, the Yanks actually did not submit the highest offer for Kluber. There were multiple teams willing to pay more than $10 million.

It came down to a desire on the part of Kluber and the Yanks to work together. It couldn’t have hurt that Kluber enjoys working with Eric Cressey, the Yankees’ new director of player health and performance.

Padres trade for their third starting pitcher, Musgrove from PIT

And they are still tied for the most top 100 prospects in MLB.

And the Twins?

Also 2 pitching coaches. Maybe that'll help this organization.
