ORIGINAL: Hats4Bats So true sigh ESPN Schoenfield: I'm not counting J.A. Happ as a big move, so I'm still waiting for the Twins do something interesting to keep up with the White Sox -- re-signing Nelson Cruz, in particular. No, he won't continue mashing forever, but he was the only hitter in the lineup who didn't fall off in 2020 from that record-setting team of 2019. They need Cruz or somebody similar (Marcell Ozuna?). You would think a team that has lost 18 playoff games in a row would want to go all-in, but the Twins seemingly have been content to go about 88% in the past couple of years. NOT the Twins Way Jimmy Pohlad's comment about contending sticks with me. That's as far as they're willing to commit. contend with _____ team, great. That group gets you to the playoffs, great. They go farther, great. They don't? Oh well, they contended. After they fired Paul Molitor, in a statement published in the Strib In the weeks and months to come we will vigorously pursue additional talent on and off the field aimed at helping us achieve our goal of making the Twins a perennial championship contender. Doesn't mean they want to win it all. Just contend for a championship. Doesn't say WHAT championship.
