We replaced Hill with Happ.
We replace Romo or May with Robles....
Rosario?
Cruz?
Bailey?

Rosario will be replaced with Kirilloff, Rooker or Larnach.
Cruz, hopefully with Cruz.
Bailey? Who cares.

Not what Ed and I are talking about....$$$$. Should be plenty of budget to sign Didi, Cruz, and Rosenthal---plus another starter.

With no revenue from fans expect a much smaller budget. This is the Pohlad's team remember. Small market, corn fields, little engine....

Last year didn't cost them anything....how do we know there isn't fans this year? I thought the epidemic would resolved with a new president?

On reveal day for the
@baseballhall
, here's where the 3 former #MNTwins currently stand percentage wise:

Cuddyer 0.0%
Hawkins 0.5%
Hunter 4.7%

All three look like they'll fall off the ballot after one year.

Buehrle is gonna be one of those guys that hangs out on the ballot for a long time. If I'm a betting man, I say he eventually gets in around Year 9 or 10. A solid and steady and long career like his is gonna look great compared to today's pitchers.

Mark Buehrle had 4 consecutive seasons of 230+ innings in the mid-'00s.

Only 3 active lefties have ever thrown 230+ innings at least ONE TIME.

Name them.

The Hall has been diminished by the need to have somebody be inducted every year. Guys are already in who don't belong. Buehrle is a classic example of belonging in the Hall of Really Good. Not the Hall of Fame. I expect he will ultimately get in.

He was actually awesome. Twins had a lot of trouble with him. Could finish a game in 2 hours flat.

He was really good. And managed to sustain being really good. I don't consider him elite.

Trump was the one saying the virus would go away on November 4th.

The new President is busy cleaning up the old guy's mistakes.

Playing well against the Twins is not HOF credentials. David Cone pitched a perfect game against us and some would argue he has more claim to being in the HOF than Buerhle.

There is no point to the HOF if every good player gets in . the player needs tobe a bonafide star for a LONG time.

And one 5th place Cy Young finish during those 4 years. The only year he received any votes. He was good for a long time, but never great.

Mark Buehrle belongs in the "Hall of Consistency".

The answer to my trivia:

Kershaw
Keuchel
Price

All former Cy Young winners. Maybe Buehrle was robbed?

Maybe others pitchers were better

2003 his era 4.14
Roy Halladay won

2004
16-10 3.89 ERA
Johan won

2005
16-8 3.12 ERA

Bartolo won; Johan got hosed.

Twins sign a pretty good contact hitter for shortstop. He gets lots of infield hits. Did we need a shortstop? I'm getting old and forgetful. I can't remember who was our shortstop last year. I don't remember it being a problem, either.

Shortstop Andrelton Simmons and the Minnesota Twins are in agreement on a one-year, $10.5 million contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.

Polanco may move to 2nd, Arraez to utility is what I'm reading.

Gleeman from Nov 4th:

Twins offseason shopping list: 17 free agents who could address their needs

Shortstop
Good:
Marcus Semien
Better: Didi Gregorius
Best: Andrelton Simmons

If the Twins don’t love any of the 10th-man options, or they’ve soured on Jorge Polanco as the everyday shortstop after back-to-back seasons with second-half fades and ankle surgeries, they could shift him to the super-utility role and sign a new starting shortstop to a short-term contract while waiting for top prospect Royce Lewis to take over the position long-term.

Simmons is one of the best-fielding shortstops ever, a four-time Gold Glover who combines plus-plus range with a ridiculously strong arm. He’s also a solid hitter, batting .281/.329/.401 from 2017-2020, not far off Polanco’s combined .277/.335/.435 line during that time. At age 31 he might not be open to a one- or two-year contract, but Simmons could transform the Twins’ infield defense.

Gregorius killed the Twins for five years with the Yankees and is now coming off a great one-season stop in Philadelphia, bouncing back from elbow surgery to hit .284/.339/.488 with 10 homers while playing all 60 games. While not a big upgrade over Polanco defensively, the 30-year-old Gregorius has rare power for a shortstop, slugging .469 with 26 homers per 150 games since 2016.

Semien was a legitimate MVP candidate in 2019, hitting .285/.369/.522 with 33 homers and 87 walks to place third in the AL voting, but it’s the only time in six seasons he’s been an above-average hitter. That includes a .223/.305/.374 line in 2020, albeit with seven homers and 25 walks in 53 games. Semien has a decent glove, with power and patience, but can he be counted on to hit .250?

Discount bin: Freddy Galvis, Jonathan Villar

I don't see Arraez as a utility guy. Only spot on the field I'm comfortable with is 2B.

Polanco can play OF too...there was talk he would eventually end up in LF. He's never been a great fielder. Simmons is amazing with the glove and can hit. Good signing. I guess with last year being thrown out, Lewis is a year away.

Next up...Cruz and then a quality bullpen arm. Sonny Gray is on my list too.
