Edwards 5-16
Beasley 5-17

Wolves lose to ATL 108-97 Russell 11-21 finished with 31, 7 assists, 4 steals (had 4 assists/4 steals at the half)

Hunter, per the highlight of him drilling a 3
had his best offensive game of the season. Hit for 25

Or more simply:

Wolves lose by double figures to a bad team that played poorly.

Yep. That game was there for the taking, even playing short handed. But the Wolves played scared, clumsy, and basically looking uncoached.

That loss is on Ryan 100%

Completely shit the bed with his rotation the last few minutes.

10 point lead and absolutely rolling and he had to go back to DLo and let him piss the game away.

Glen Taylor is Souhan’s boss. He doesn’t have the balls to be critical of the Wolves.

Disgusting collapse. Vucevic with his worst game of the season, Fournier hasn't played in a month. Anthony, one of the few rookies that actually look worse than Edwards, beats us.

If not for Walton, Saunders would be the consensus worst coach in the NBA. One of them will be fired after this season. Wanna' guess which?

Jaden McDaniels might be our best draft pick since KAT.

He’s so smooth out there. Quick, pretty jumper and he moves so much more fluidly than his gangly body should be able to.

Great instincts too. Always in the right place, never appears to be thinking about what to do.

26 minutes, 12 points, 5-5 from 2pt, 2-4 from 3pt, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 blocks, 0 TO, +19 in a loss.

He was the player that got us rolling, so of course Saunders benches him down the stretch.

How does Ryan not call a timeout as soon as Vandy touches the ball?

How does Ryan sit McDaniels down the stretch when he was far and away our best player tonight?

How does Ryan stick with DLo when he’s absolutely killing us on both ends?

I’d rather pay Jeff Teague the Max than watch DLo play 1 more game for this team.

How the hell did the Nets make the Playoffs that one year playing Russell?

It’s DLo’s selfishness and need to be a hero, and as the games get tighter, so do Russell’s hands around his own throat.

He’s about 25% as good as he thinks he is.

He coaches like he made up his mind before the game. What happens during the game is insignificant.

So this is was we got in the draft??

DL's numbers

Edwards: 23 minutes. 3/14 shooting, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks, 2 turnovers.

Jaden McDaniel: 26 minutes, 12 points, 5-5 from 2pt, 2-4 from 3pt, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 blocks, 0 TO, +19 in a loss

Oh well....the pathetic draft nightmare continues. Should have picked Wiseman or Ball. Always ten steps behind the rest of the league.

McDaniel MAY balance this out.! He does look smooth!

Tough loss, but it was good to see we were competitive with a decent team.

You're wrong. Jim Souhan said in his column yesterday that Ryan Saunders is not the problem, so that can't be it.

4:37: D'Angelo Russell enters the game for Jaden McDaniels, 81 - 91
4:20: shot clock turnover (Russell dribbling out the clock and then throwing the ball to Naz with less than 2 seconds left)
3:52: D'Angelo Russell out of bounds bad pass turnover
2:54: D'Angelo Russell misses 19-foot pullup jump shot
1:43: D'Angelo Russell misses 19-foot pullup jump shot
1:24: Jordan McLaughlin makes driving layup, 89 - 93
1:24: Jordan McLaughlin makes free throw 1 of 1, 89 - 94
50.1: Naz Reid makes dunk (Jordan McLaughlin assists), 91 - 96
22.4: Aaron Gordon blocks D'Angelo Russell 's 10-foot jumper

We had a 10 point lead with 4:37 left when Russell replaced McDaniels.

We scored 5 points the rest of the game, with McLaughlin involved in all 5.

Conversely, D'Lo went 0-3, with 2 turnovers and 0 assists.

Some of Souhan

The Wolves might as well give Saunders a chance at coaching a stretch of games with Towns healthy before making a decision. Not for Saunders' sake, but because they don't want to find out five or 10 years from now that Saunders was worth keeping.

As for Rosas, it's time for him to do something that gives this team a chance to contend. His acquisition of Ricky Rubio has been a negative, and Russell has not been the franchise player the Wolves hoped he would be.

He needs to keep trying to find an answer, and his next target should be Rockets forward P.J. Tucker.

Tucker plays defense. He can shoot three-pointers. Although just 6-5, he's strong enough to play interior defense and rebound.

He's been a winning player and is known for his toughness. On a roster that looks like it's filled with SlimFast endorsers, he could change the way the Wolves play.

Put Tucker next to Towns, hope that they can play together for a while, then make your decisions on Saunders and the roster.

That's one way to use a lost season during a trying year.

PJ is 35, having the worst season of his career and will be a FA after the year.

If Rosas gives up anything of value to rent him for the rest of the year, he should be canned immediately.

As I have said many times; Souhan knows less about hockey than he does about basketball, than he does about football than he does about baseball, which he knows absolutely nothing about. Honestly, how this guy got a job as a sports columnist is beyond me.

Glen Taylor owns the Timberwolves.

Glen Taylor owns the Star Tribune.

Glen Taylor considers Saunders to be family.

Do you really think any Strib writers are going to criticize Ryan?

Of course not. None of them would point out that Flip wasn't a good coach either.

Which is weird because at least Ryan gets that a modern NBA offense is not built around 20 foot jump shots.
