I just read the Souhan column being discussed. Yeah pretty stupid.

First he lays out all the roster problems. All true enough. But then he goes on to say they don't play good team defense...but that's not Ryan's fault? Souhan has the same misconception that a lot of casual NBA viewers have - That offense is complex but defense is simple, and is only about having desire and hustle. While that's part of the battle, good team defense is at least as much about coaching as is the offense, and probably more so. Because it's a lot about technique and scheme and positioning and knowing responsibilities in a system. And it's all reactive to what the offense is doing, which makes it even more complex, and often the right thing to do is not instinctive at all.

And defense is just part of this team's coaching woes.

It may or may not be the right time to fire Saunders. That's a separate question. But to say he's not the problem is absurd. He may not be THE problem. But he's at least as responsible as anyone for this bad start.

Insight to an organization that's a mess.

Some of Souhan

The Wolves might as well give Saunders a chance at coaching a stretch of games with Towns healthy before making a decision. Not for Saunders' sake, but because they don't want to find out five or 10 years from now that Saunders was worth keeping.

As for Rosas, it's time for him to do something that gives this team a chance to contend. His acquisition of Ricky Rubio has been a negative, and Russell has not been the franchise player the Wolves hoped he would be.

He needs to keep trying to find an answer, and his next target should be Rockets forward P.J. Tucker.

Tucker plays defense. He can shoot three-pointers. Although just 6-5, he's strong enough to play interior defense and rebound.

He's been a winning player and is known for his toughness. On a roster that looks like it's filled with SlimFast endorsers, he could change the way the Wolves play.

Put Tucker next to Towns, hope that they can play together for a while, then make your decisions on Saunders and the roster.

That's one way to use a lost season during a trying year.

As I have said many times; Souhan knows less about hockey than he does about basketball, than he does about football than he does about baseball, which he knows absolutely nothing about. Honestly, how this guy got a job as a sports columnist is beyond me.

Probably from all of you reading and discussing him.

That plus "Saunders isn't the problem, but trading for a 35 year old who will be a free agent after this season will solve our problems."

OK, an undersized front court guy, will be a free agent, shoots 3s at about the league average and only a couple percentage above the Wolves current team average. But he's not skinny, so we need him.

This team is so fukcin' bad. Top down.

Of course Saunders is the problem, but so is the roster. We have the worst roster in all of the NBA.

Worst game of the year. A rudderless ship adrift at sea.

Capela looks like Olajuwon against us.

I'm an old man in my mom's basement but even I would be better prepared to play the Hawks than Saunders is.

Young and Capela/Collins run more pick and rolls than anybody else in the league. Did we not know this? Maybe we did, but just didn't know what to do about it?

Capela with a triple double...thanks to 10 blocks. Young with 43 points.

Meanwhile I feel like Naz is our only solid NBA quality player tonight. And barely so. This felt like a G league team. And not a particularly good one.

I appreciate your optimism, but Reid is barely NBA level talent.

Excluding the obvious (one), do we have any good players?

Why in the world did we acquire Rubio? To torture him? Same mindset that thinks getting Tucker is a good idea.
What in the world makes sense about him being here? Wait, our entire organization is delusional. They thought we were going to be great.

Rubio needs, and deserves, to be bench PG on a contender. We sucked him into our misery hole.

Oh I know. I only meant it was true for tonight. And I meant it as an insult to the rest of the team that Naz looked the most steady.

The Timberwolves are minus-11.8 points per game with D’Angelo Russell on the floor.

That’s the worst mark for any rotation player in the NBA by more than 3 points per game.

It’s going to go down as the worst trade in Wolves history.

Sounds like GS should have given us a #1 pick.

Looking like Rosas got fleeced. Thought Russell was suppose to be good.

He is Town's buddy. After all Towns has done for the franchise you have to keep him happy,

Thibs seems to be getting good press in New York and Butler went to the finals last year.

The flow seems much better tonight without Russell. Naz having another solid game.

Still waiting for the inevitable 5 minute meltdown though.

Vanderbilt double-double and MN wins by 10

Balanced scoring

Russell needs more time away from the court

What if we didn’t play DLo and yet we just kept on winning and winning even without KAT. That would be awesome.

The Timberwolves have the third worst record in the NBA now. I thought they were supposed to be improved this year. It feels like hell. (running on a treadmill and never getting anywhere)

We have one player that would start on a contending team and he’s missed most of the year.

If you expected more...that’s on you.
