My ideal starting line-up would be Rubio/Russell/Culver/RHJ/KAT.

I expect Saunders to go with Russell/Beasley/Okogie/Hernangomez/KAT.

Yes

and

UGH

Okogie had a - last night. Just not impressed.

He really hasn't improved from his rookie year, but single game +/- doesn't tell you anything. Its much more about who you shared the floor with than anything you did yourself.

then he was the worst of all whom he shared. -29 as one of the starters. In 18 minutes.

Only Beasley was a + of the starting 5 Russell DNP

Single game is circumstances. You could come in for 5 minutes, completely shut down their best player, while his teammates go on a 12-0 run against you and suddenly you're -12 despite playing your role perfectly.

+/- really only tells you something when its normalized over a large amount of games.

Interesting

Months before he agreed to purchase the Utah Jazz for $1.66 billion, Ryan Smith, who was formally approved as owner by the NBA's board of governors Friday, said he was "really close" to making a bid to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Smith, who made his fortune as the co-founder of the Utah-based tech firm Qualtrics, had several detailed discussions with Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor last winter. Smith was seriously considering taking the next step until his wife, Ashley, voiced her objection.

"With my wife, something wasn't right. She was putting her foot down," Smith told ESPN. "She was like, 'You know we're Jazz fans, right? That's what we do, and I'm not moving.' She doesn't put her foot down very often, but it was a nice reminder that I was kind of getting caught up in this other world because I liked the business side of it."

Smith then approached Gail Miller, whose family had owned the Jazz for 35 years, about potentially buying a share of the team. He was initially rebuffed, but they reengaged in discussions over the summer and worked out a deal for Smith to buy the Jazz along with Vivint Arena, the team's G League affiliate and the Triple-A Salt Lake City Bees.

"Ryan Smith is a forward-thinking, community-minded entrepreneur and business leader who will be a fantastic addition to our league," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. "As a lifelong fan of the Utah Jazz and more recently as one of their key marketing partners, Ryan has demonstrated his deep commitment to the Jazz and the Utah community, and there's no doubt he will bring that same level of dedication to the operation of the team."

Part of the agreement calls for the team to remain in Utah, which was never a question for Smith, a lifelong Jazz fan whose courtside seats in recent seasons have been next to Greg Miller, Gail's son and the franchise's former CEO, and his wife, Heidi.

"Adam Silver said some people get the rare, rare opportunity to get a piece or even an entire NBA team," Smith said. "He said, 'But no one, no one gets their team.' For me to be in a spot here where we get to start this new chapter with our team is why this is so unique, but it's also daunting, right?"

We waived Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, which was a big surprise. Thought he was competing for the starting spot not a roster spot. Looks like the last acquired big man

Jaden McDaniels might be more "huge wing" than PF. I had no idea his handle and passing ability were as advanced as thy are.

I think Brandon Ingram is a more realistic comp. That's the one that gets thrown out the most.Or maybe Jonathan Isaac.

The main issue with him is maturity. He definitely has "lottery talent", but that's what dropped him as far as it did.

Any potential jail, or home confinement, will not exceed 120 days and will be served at end of 2020-21 season, his attorneys Steven Haney and Ryan Pacyga say. Upon successful completion of probation, the threat of violence charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor.

The expectation is that Malik Beasley will still receive discipline from the NBA — and a suspension is still likely, according to league sources.

Timberwolves guard Malik Beasley and the Hennepin County Attorney's Office reached an agreement Monday that Beasley will serve 120 days in the workhouse in exchange for him pleading guilty to a threats of violence count while having a felony drug charge dismissed.

Both charges are related to a September incident in which Beasley is alleged to have aimed a rifle at a couple and their teenage daughterin an SUV outside his Plymouth home, where a large stash of marijuana and other guns were seized by police.

Beasley appeared by video remote for Monday's plea hearing and said, "I've learned my lesson" while answering questions from his attorney.

"I could have retreated," he said. "I was not in my right mind. I'm ready to move on."

Formal sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 9, when Judge Hilary Caligiuri will most likely accept the terms of Beasley's guilty plea, which also includes being on probation for three years.

If Beasley successfully completes his probation, the felony will be reduced to a misdemeanor on his record. However, if he violates any of the terms, he could face a harsher punishment.

Only after sentencing will a date be set for when he would potentially have to report to the workhouse. The Athletic reported that Beasley's attorneys, Steven Haney and Ryan Pacyga, said any time served would come after the end of the 2020-21 season, which is set to open Wednesday for the Wolves.

Beasley might be allowed to serve his time on electronic home monitoring as part of the judicial system's efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in lockup facilities.

Pacyga was not immediately available to answer questions Monday afternoon about the plea deal.

A felony drug charge remains against his wife, 23-year-old Montana Yao — who has reportedly filed for divorce from Beasley.

I'm willing to give him a second chance. He seems to be at a turning point in his life. Legal problems, marriage shot. It could go two ways. He could see it as a wakeup call and get hs life together and start fresh. Or he could continue down a downward spiral of destructive behavior.

Until we see which path he's choosing I'm willing to keep an open mind.

No televised Wolves for me tonight. YoutubeTV dropped FSN. And every other streaming service did too, except AT&T I think. And I'm not going to them.

These feuds between sports channels and providers suck.

Only thing I've seen is a beautiful spin move layup by Edwards. Which against a real defense, help would have came and stuffed it. But I'm willing to credit Edwards for seeing that the lane was going to be wide open.

My thought with streaming services is, you get what you pay for. There are no guarantees. People switch from cable or satellite to streaming to save money. That's fine, but you kind of forfeit your right to bitch about it.

Now, if you're paying big bucks for expanded cable packages or full DISH/DirecTV and you don't get the sports you want? I do have a problem with that.

Oh, I can bitch about it. Watch me.

I paid a fee based on a given channel lineup. Yes I know it's a two way street. There is no service contract. You can drop at any time. And on their side, they can add or drop channels any time, though it's bad business for them to be too unstable in their channel lineup.

My prime priority in choosing a provider was it had to have local sports. FSN and Big 10 network. Without those I wouldn't even have a TV provider. I don't give a crap about all those other crap channels. I'd just have Netflix, HBO Max, local channels and whatever. I figured worst case if they ever dropped local sports I'd just switch to someone else who had it. Hop around as needed. With no service contract you can do that. But the fact that all streaming services dropped FSN makes me think FSN is the one being the unreasonable bad guy here.

I read an article today that the company who owns FSN and a bunch of other local sports networks is working on their own standalone streaming service. That would be ideal for me. Just let me pay for FSN and not 100 channels I don't watch.

Held them to 44 in the 2nd half.

Seemed like Rubio’s back-to-back steaks really igniting the team.

The zone is interesting. Detroit only has one guy that can break it down with the dribble. Will be interesting to see how we do against a team with multiple ball handlers.

KAT was great, but needs to shoot more. He was passing up 3s in rhythm at an alarming rate. His passing was terrific.

Russell needs to shoot less. Or at least quit taking so many off balance shots.

Culver looks like he might be special.

Okogie looked like he’s starting to play under control.

Edwards is not Wiggins. He’s much more skilled and much more engaged. Needs to get that shot to drop.

The only guy worse than Juancho was Layman. We’re going to be better off going small with Okogie or Edwards playing PF.

This could be a big year for Culver. I feel he's been overlooked. He wasn't terrible last year, but never asserted himself much. Just finding his way...and then the team blew up and then it shut down. Just kind of a weird year where he never got settled in. Maybe that will happen this year.
