Wasn't Rosas the first Latin American PoBO? Now we have the first Indian PoBO. I guess we are scoring diversity points. Now to fire Finch and replace him with Cheryl Reeve or Becky Hammon.

Why? Finch actually is a good coach....nothing against Cheryl or Becky.

Agree. I like Finch. Give him a chance. The circumstances of his hire were very odd, but bottom line I think he’ll do a good job this year. There was notable improvement under him last year once he had a chance to get settled a bit.

I wasn't serious.

I was being facetious, sarcastic or something like that.

I knew you were. How did nobody else catch it? I know you so well, probably because we love country music.

The tone of the post. Poking fun at the diversity angle.
Diversity is a commendable thing until you make it the reason for a hire rather than the talent of the person being hired.

Now I've opened a can of worms.

We have gotten to know each other pretty well through the country thread. I think we need to declare the song of the year for 2021 once the year ends. Country again is going to be hard to beat iMO.

So your attempt at poking fun at diversity was to....identify two qualified individuals?? Shecky Greene - you are not....

Try Nicki Minaj next time - you could incorporate a joke about anti-vax weirdos as well...

Have we discussed this yet?

During his interview with host Willie Geist, Rivers was asked about the Simmons’ trade demand. Rivers said the team is trying to convince Simmons to stay in Philadelphia, but they’re having a hard time changing his mind. This led Rivers to make an outlandish and objectively hilarious comparison:

“There’s times that I think we’re getting through,” Rivers acknowledged. “And there’s times that I think that I’m talking to people who still believe Trump won the election. So I’m not sure, but I’m going to keep trying.”

My poking fun at diversity was all four of Rosas, Gupta, Hammon, and Reeve. They're all qualified, but I was talking about us scoring diversity points. Nicki Minaj isn't even a basketball person. I was poking fun, but not in an absurd manner like you proposed.

As for incorporating anti-vax weirdos how would that have fit the joke? Also not all anti-vax people are weirdos. You can be wrong about something without being a weirdo. Now some anti-vaxxers are weirdos without question.

Sarcasm doesn't work very well in print a lot of the time. To me it was quite obvious I was poking fun. To Phil it wasn't. I'm glad you and Matt figured it out.

you all catch the info that Andrew Wiggins is one of the few NBA players who refuses to get vaccinated. And I believe the home arena is is a municipality that requires vaccination for any large public gatherings. Glad that is one problem that is no longer the Wolves.

I believe Wiggins said he won't get vaccinated unless they make him. It looks like they're making him.

Yes I posted it on the NBA thread.

Why doesn’t he just get a shot? In don’t understand people.

It's due to religious beliefs with Wiggins.

There are no religions in the US that are forbidding covid-19 vaccination.

How can you make such a statement? Do you know every religion and what stances they have on COVID? A week ago I started the church of KGdaBom and from that point on all members were forbidden from getting COVID vaccines. It's just a coincidence that every member of the church is already vaccinated.

So that covers you and every family member you dominate.

Let me put it another way. There is no major religion that forbids the vaccine by doctrine.

Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and Jehovah Witness object to some vaccines that use animal gelatins. The covid-19 vaccine contains no animal products and those religions encourage their members to get vaccinated.

The Catholic church and other Christian faiths oppose vaccines that use fetal tissue. The covid-19 vaccine doesn't use fetal tissue. The heads of these churches at the very least don't oppose vaccination and many encourage it. Pope Francis has been vaccinated and said that everyone is morally obligated to get the vaccine.

Amish and Fundamentalists believe life or death is God's will. The members tend not to get vaccinated even though there is no doctrine against getting vaccinated.

Buddhism and Sikhism don't have any doctrine opposing vaccination and encourage practitioners to get vaccinated.

I'm sure there are some one-off cults from the lunatic fringe who strictly forbid it, but that are a tiny minority.

Wiggins is full of shit. If he was even half religious he would return the money he has stolen from the NBA owners he has played for.

Irving's aunt, supposedly a key advisor, hinted at him sitting out home games (Nets venue in area requiring vaccination).

He's not religious, he's an idiot.

Wiggins, 26, was one of the higher-profile NBA players to say publicly he would not be getting the vaccine, during his earlier comments on the topic.

"To each his own, really. Whoever wants to get it, can get it; whoever doesn't want to get it, don't get it," Wiggins said on March 22. "Right now, I'm not getting it, but it's no knock on anyone else that's getting it. I make my own decisions. But right now, I decided not to get it."

Wiggins at the time said he was waiting for more information.

"Yeah, I don't really see myself getting it any time soon, unless I'm forced to somehow," Wiggins said in March. "Other than that, I'm good."

The Chronicle reported that the Warriors put Wiggins in touch with an Oakland doctor to discuss the hesitancy in getting the vaccine, but he did not change his stance.

Good for the NBA:

The N.B.A. has denied the request of Andrew Wiggins, a Golden State Warriors player, for a religious exemption from the coronavirus vaccine, which is required in San Francisco to attend large indoor events, including Warriors home games.

The league’s decision complicates matters for the team and for Mr. Wiggins, a 26-year-old forward who was the No. 1 draft pick in 2014. He said in March that he did not plan to get the vaccine unless he was forced to.

The ruling means that Mr. Wiggins will be barred from attending home games in San Francisco, where his team is based, unless he gets inoculated. The city mandated last month that people show they are vaccinated to attend large indoor events. A negative coronavirus test will not suffice.

“Wiggins will not be able to play in Warriors home games until he fulfills the city’s vaccination requirements,” the N.B.A. said in a statement on Twitter on Friday.

It remained unclear on Saturday on what basis Mr. Wiggins applied for a religious exemption.

One difference I see between the Wolves and Twins.

The Wolves owner wants to build a winner he just has no clue how to make that happen.
The Twins ownership is not very concerned about trying to win. If they fall ass backwards into a championship again all the better for the pocketbook. They can maybe can reach their goals easier losing than by winning.
