One difference I see between the Wolves and Twins.

The Wolves owner wants to build a winner he just has no clue how to make that happen.
The Twins ownership is not very concerned about trying to win. If they fall ass backwards into a championship again all the better for the pocketbook. They can maybe can reach their goals easier losing than by winning.

I think they were more in win mode in 2020 than 2021.....Local coffee talk with co-workers. Would a 2/50 for Scherzer show conviction for 2022....they need to make a move like that. Add up Happ, Shoemaker, Colome, Robles, and Simmons and that $$$ is available.

Sorry will move to Twins Thread.

So that covers you and every family member you dominate.

Let me put it another way. There is no major religion that forbids the vaccine by doctrine.

Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and Jehovah Witness object to some vaccines that use animal gelatins. The covid-19 vaccine contains no animal products and those religions encourage their members to get vaccinated.

The Catholic church and other Christian faiths oppose vaccines that use fetal tissue. The covid-19 vaccine doesn't use fetal tissue. The heads of these churches at the very least don't oppose vaccination and many encourage it. Pope Francis has been vaccinated and said that everyone is morally obligated to get the vaccine.

Amish and Fundamentalists believe life or death is God's will. The members tend not to get vaccinated even though there is no doctrine against getting vaccinated.

Buddhism and Sikhism don't have any doctrine opposing vaccination and encourage practitioners to get vaccinated.

I'm sure there are some one-off cults from the lunatic fringe who strictly forbid it, but that are a tiny minority.

No dominated family members. Just me.
My point is your statement was a bit over the top as I'm sure there are religions that do forbid the vaccine. What makes a religion a major religion by the way?

Not sure how you measure quality. Is there a Yelp for religions? Maybe Consumer Reports did a side by side evaluation. The communion wafers in religion x were pretty bland. They do ask for the highest percentage of tithing, but they also have the highest rate of souls going to Heaven among members.

speaking of basketball here, I must say I have never had a positive view of the path the 76s have taken and that has been around my impression of their stars. I haven't cared for Simmons, but Embiid has always struck me with the qualities I dislike most in some pro athletes. So, not surprised Embiid is responding to shots Simmon's camp placed across the bow. I'm willing to bet it gets much uglier quickly, and I for one have no sympathy for them. It also probably highlights gaps in my basketball IQ, but not excited about the Wolves offering too much to get Simmons.

I wish the 76ers no success whatsoever until everything associated with "The Process" is purged from the team.

Looks like the 76ers are planning on withholding Ben's money now.

I heard that in retaliation, Simmons is considering showing up and saying he is too hurt to play. It looks the two sides are just content to up the ante on each other at this point. The standoff is starting to take on league wide consequences as teams are concerned that Philly backing down would set a bad precedent for teams dealing with players under long term contracts.

Good to see you back Elliot. Wish you would pop in and post more often.

I'm wondering how this might shake out legally. The team has the right to fine him for not showing up, but do they have the right to withhold his pay?

Thanks, Sweens. It seems as though Simmons' contract is front-ended quarterly, or something like that. So, he's already received the first installment (July) and he was due his next installment October 1. In any event, it's pretty clear that Simmons won't return under any circumstances.

Personally, I think the 76ers effed this up at every turn. Simmons has plenty of blame too. He needs a thicker skin.

But when your head coach is asked a pointed question about whether your star point guard can lead you to the championship and his response is "I don't know"....I can understand why Simmons wants out. And Simmons told them that immediately. He hasn't wavered. The Sixers figured he'd change his mind. Now they've watched his value plummet while Doc falls all over himself trying to walk-back his earlier comments. All the while pouring more gasoline on the fire by suggesting Simmons is afraid to play in Philly and comparing him to Trump supporters.

I'm 50/50 on whether I'd really support giving up the assets necessary to acquire him.

I'm in the anyone, but Edwards and KAT category. I think Simmons has almost the perfect complementary game for those two. With Rosas out of the picture, I am more confident in the Wolves not getting taken or overpaying the way they on the Wig trade. Gupta is supposed to be a wizard on player trade value. I think that was one of the bones of contention between him and Rosas. Gupta tried to warn him about the weak protection on the first round pick we gave up in the D'Lo deal.

I'm worried more about the inclusion of draft assets.

Yeah, I get that. Especially after Rosas flushed a lottery pick down the toilet. That's where I would be counting on Gupta to properly protect draft assets.

If it lets us keep guys like McDaniels, I'm thrilled to give up more draft assets.

I'd do something like Beasley/Beverley/Prince, three #1s and a couple swaps in a heartbeat.

That leaves us with a starting line-up of D'Lo/Ant/Jaden/Simmons/KAT. All 25 or under.

Layman would be the only player we have over 25.

That's probably three picks in the 20s and I'm not even sure the swaps would happen...

I don't know that you could get Philly down to that, given their original asking price.

I found myself grinding my teeth watching Jonathan Kuminga in summer league. I'm not saying he'll be a world-beater but it was just tough to watch. At least the Warriors couldn't nab Suggs.

If he turns out to be a star it will be super painful. If we hadn't made the trade who knows what our pick would have been with Keeping Wiggins and no Russell. Records would have been different so different ping pong ball combinations and different results.
