Today on NBA.TV, they were praising Wiggins as being near All-Defense last year..

I'm worried more about the inclusion of draft assets.

If it lets us keep guys like McDaniels, I'm thrilled to give up more draft assets.

I'd do something like Beasley/Beverley/Prince, three #1s and a couple swaps in a heartbeat.

That leaves us with a starting line-up of D'Lo/Ant/Jaden/Simmons/KAT. All 25 or under.

Layman would be the only player we have over 25.

That's probably three picks in the 20s and I'm not even sure the swaps would happen...

I don't know that you could get Philly down to that, given their original asking price.

That's why there are all those draft picks involved.

It's probably as good of an offer as they're going to get.

How much do you worry about him wanting us to restructure the offense to feature him as the #1 option?

What’s less than zero?

I don’t buy that. He’s never wanted to be a #1 option. I think that’s all agent posturing.

That's what I'm not sure of. Right now The Sixers demands are so ridiculous that teams have no problem telling them to f*** off. At some point, Philly will have to drop it's asking price into the realm of reality. That's when we'll find out what others are actually willing to pay.

I caught Wolve's second quarter and most of the fourth last night. I was impressed at the defense, and fun the players were having especially in the second. Gives me reasons for optimism!

The game article in the Strib today was talking about Ant's defense last night. In 22 minutes he had 2 blocks and 2 steals.

He had two blocks and 3 steals at half time. Maybe they took one away.

Just bought tickets to the season opener. Should be fun to see a game in person again.

Good for you Karl.
I'm in Flagstaff, AZ about 180 miles from where the Suns play. Do I break down and buy tickets for when we come here? I bet after the Suns made the finals ticket prices and scalping are through the roof.

The new ownership group of the Minnesota Timberwolves has interest in trading for Ben Simmons, which could put Sachin Gupta in a unique situation of negotiating a major trade despite ostensibly acting as the interim head of their front office.

The conventional wisdom around the league has been that Simmons would be a natural fit with Karl-Anthony Towns. In any trade for Simmons, the Wolves would also consider Anthony Edwards to be completely untouchable. The Wolves would prefer to keep D'Angelo Russell but are believed to be willing to trade him if necessary.

"That's his challenge. Even though he doesn't have the interim tag, he knows he's essentially an interim guy," said Jon Krawczynski on The Athletic NBA Show of Gupta. "Do you make the decisions you think is best for the organization or the one you think is going to get you the job? Because I do know ownership is very bullish on Ben Simmons. They are very intrigued by the idea of adding him Towns, Edwards..."

Gupta, like Gersson Rosas, previously worked under Daryl Morey with the Houston Rockets.

"They want to get in," said Krawczynski on a Minnesota trade for Simmons. "I think Simmons' value around the league is pretty low, but the Wolves are bullish. They want to be at the head of this table. They know they don't have the pieces to give Daryl Morey that are immediately going to help him win a championship. The hope is that maybe if Daryl Morey gets pressed into a corner, maybe he would take a draft pick heavy package from the Wolves and then use some of those picks later on down the line to go get a Damian Lillard or a Bradley Beal."

Krawczynski also added that Towns and Simmons have been on "good terms."

I'm not sure if it's quite to that point yet, but we do need to see something to get our hopes up. Personally, I would be totally by a playoff appearance. I'm not holding my breath, but it wouldn't be a complete shock.

Hey Karl, since I am retiring and no longer going into work, I have unchecked the "don't show members avatars" feature in my profile. Just noticed yours. I really like it. I'm a big Replacements fan, which was my introduction to Slim Dunlap. Really sad that a stroke took away the gifts of a great artist. It was awesome the way the local music community rallied to help him.

I watched most of the final preseason game last night.

Probably not a lot of surprises, but a few comment:

McDaniels is really exceptional on the defensive side of things. On the man, or helping. In the paint or on the perimeter. He just gets it. I enjoyed this part of the game most. He's just enjoyable to watch on defense.
I think the Wolves will still struggle from 3 this year.
The Wolves defending the rim and (related) defensive rebounding will make or break them. If they want to make the playoffs, they're gonna have to get a lot better in those areas.
