We have one playoff caliber line with Foligno-Ek-Greenway, after that we just don't have the horses to play big boy hockey.
Special K and Fiala need some big boys to play with that will give them room to work. Until we get them we will continue to struggle in the playoffs.

Agree, I was about to type that there is one line that I like right now and you named it. Unfortunately we have all of our big boys on the same line. As much as I like them together, I'd like to spread that size and grit around a little.

Dumba smoked for a goal by guy we gave up to protect him
(Tuch) synopsis of this series.
Dumba also responsible for shorty by Stone as he just fell down with the puck
and Stone was off to the races.

Looks like Evason is in panic mode.....I'm seeing line combos right now we haven't seen all season.

Oh no!
Dean likes turnover machine Rask too much to take him
Away from top 2 skill lines.
Meanwhile Ek is a monster while Kirill ,Zuccarello
And Fiala struggle for space.
And Boldy sits and waits his turn.

If nothing else Guerin is getting a good look at how far we really are from being a playoff team that can make some noise.
Question is, what will he do about it?

Roster will continue to be a challenge until the Suter and Parise contracts are gone. Going to take some outstanding drafting and FA pickups to keep costs down and add talent.

At least we start with two first round picks in the draft.

The problem in moving Parise and or Suter is that it could come back to bite us in the ass in a big way if they were to retire before their contracts are done. We would get hammered with a massive cap hit.

The way Suter plays he should be good for the length of his contract, but it's pretty obvious that something will have to be done with Zach this summer. Not sure what Guerin has in mind, but he must have some sort of plan in the works.

Agree on Dean. Kevin said it. I expected every stick on the bench to hit the ice after our goal was waived off. Theatrics if nothing else. We just got kicked in the nuts AGAIN and he didn’t do anything about it. We aren’t even passive aggressive, we are just passive.

If that’s goalie interference, every goal in this playoff needs to be wiped off the board. He set the tone with a “meh” attitude. What should have turned into a good game turned into a blowout and we just took it.

And just when I thought I was possibly over reacting, I go and read the Strib recap 😳

The quotes from Dean and the players show what the #1 problem is. Too cushy. We have no fire. About the non-goal the reaction was basically:

“I guess that’s the rule”
“We don’t like it but oh well”
“Jeepers woulda been swell if they didn’t call it, right Wally?”

This was Dean (not all that surprising) and Faligno (very surprising).

Not like the old Mike Yeo days when we would whine incessantly about everything under the sun.

Here is what is abundantly clear. Las Vegas is without a doubt a better hockey team than the Wild. Better leadership. Better attitude. Better talent.

And as a whole team, we seem to be at peace with. That’s the issue.

It's an issue. I don't know that it's the issue. The Wild have come a long way, but there is still a ways to go.

I came in to this season expecting it to be a tough one and had low expectations. They over-achieved and raised my expectations as the season went on, only to crash hard in the playoffs.
Now that my expectations have been knocked down a few notches I can see that it has been a good stepping stone season to bigger and better things.
That said, I really hope they decided to give Boldy a taste of what the NHL playoffs is all about tomorrow night.

I think everyone can see what is coming: Rossi, Boldy, Khovanov, Addison, Beckman, and Khusnutdinov. They just need a top line C for next year to really roll....Still think a Dumba trade might be the ticket.

How did we beat Vegas so many times in the regular season, but look so cowed by them in the post season? All of the talk about Vegas "just being a better team" doesn't scan with how we matched up in the regular season.

As is the case in just about all of Minnesota sports - we are once again left with ... "We'll get 'em next year."

I think it's time for Evason to finally put Kaprizov and JEE together. LV is mugging Kaprizov at every turn. Put him with Ek and Foligno and watch the ice open up for him. Right now Kaprizov is being put in position to carry the team on his back and LV won't allow that. Evason needs to wake up and put him in position to succeed.

It's the difference between a regular season and a playoff mentality. LV ratcheted up the intensity

That's lame. We should be able to ratchet up the intensity just as much as them.

Better talent...only so much to ratchet.

A few wins we had in the regular season were also MAF gaffe games. He's not had any so far in the post season.

I've been vocal that I had no desire for Evason as HC when it happened but started to really like him. This post season has shown me a lot about him and i'm back to "crap this guys aint the guy" mode.

The line combos, can't free up space for Kap/Fiala, PP is back to being a disaster and lack of fire on the bench. It's all a bad combo that severely says "outcoached".
