Jezuz! Just saw a clip of Boldy scoring against the Czech Republic. Back to the goal, taps the puck between his legs, then reaches his stick through and taps it by the goalie.

Yup, that was slick move and shot!

The Wild might really have something. Maybe a team with firepower to hang with anybody in a couple years.

I couldn't believe the lift and speed he got shooting the puck with his stick through his legs.

Rossi got his feet under him a little better last night, got 5 shots to the net
Austria scored its first goal finally (7-1 loss to Russia)
He didn't figure in the scoring

Too bad the U.S.A. drew Russia in the first game. I think the result would have been different if they had a game under their belts first. This is a really talented squad that hasn't had a lot of time together.

Yep
We'll change that result when we see Russia again
Americas coming together nicely
The big five are clearly ahead of the pack as usual
Should be some interesting quarters and semis
Canada is scary good. But a couple of us should give them a game.
Not to look too far down the road but the USAs next team will be really fun
The group that wasn't quite old enough this time is really really good.

And we will have to wait until after the NCAA season to see him on the Wild.

Yep, that one hurts a little
From what I have seen, it'd be better if he and Rossi flipped their next responsibilities.

I was blown away when I saw a graphic of the Canadian teams roster......all 1st round draft picks!
If that graphic I saw while watching them in an earlier game was true, no wonder they are the favorites.

USA moves on to the quarterfinals as the top seed with a workman like win over Sweden last night.
We got couple of fluke, seeing eye goals early just by throwing the puck at the net and never looked back.
Next up, Slovakia tomorrow.

The Wild make it official. SMF's favorite pint sized runt is the new captain.

I think it's well deserved. Sounds like he is ironically the most looked up to player in the locker room.

So happy for the kid

Loved the story, Guerin and Evanson show up at the Spurgeon house, and the daughter answers the door ... "are you here to fire my Dad?"

There has been some question about whether Spurgeon is the right personality for the job. I trust Guerin on this. He is a multiple time cup winner and he knows what he needs in a captain.

Gopher crew discussing it, brought up that every other NHL team/media/management comes in to play the Wild, and every one of them brings up Spurgeon. He's been the GUY they have all noticed the past decade.
Can't call him underrated so much anymore, but he's definitely been the most=respected by opponents, and they said it isn't even close.

And being the best player doesn't make you a captain, but Guerin said he doubted the fact coming in that Spurgeon was the leader. Until he said he hung around awhile. And as Sweens pointed out, Guerin gets what a Captain is, probably as good as anyone in the game.

My only question too. Nothing about his abilities as a player. Is he the spark, emotionally we need after a decade of 9?

You won't get your ass reddened by a Pavelski-type scorching, no
I'd say more likely embarrassed by the "look what he gets done with what he has" pressure
Accountability isn't a bad thing
Spurgeon got paid, and what happened, his production remained, or increased
Your assistants can be the muscle, and Suter damn-well better be his backup in that regard
The little shyster has carried Suter around the rink many a night.
Probably also has something to do with being the kind of guy who won't use the extra responsibilities as an excuse

I hear ya. Spurg is deserving for sure. Just not sure of the fit for this roster. We’ve been so passive but I trust BG so far.

Its a concern for sure, I hear ya
Looks more to me like we need a Messier than an Yzerman, but they both have worked
Maybe Guerin knows Suter and Parise are such assholes, they can handle that part of the job for the new C

I've been hearing Kaprizov is just impressing the hell out of everybody. I think they had him skating with Zach and Bjugstad.

They also held Fiala out of a practice, but gave no explanation. It sounded like something precautionary. Fiala maintains he is fine and was irritated at being made to sit out.

Rossi may be cleared to practice by tomorrow.

Fiala's thing scares me. He broke out and is now being benched and they aren't explaining why? Not good, IMO.

And you think KK is promising now? Wait until he hits puberty. Kid looks like he's 8.
