Talbot got a "lower body injury" late in the first, but finished the period. Tried to gut it out, but had to come out early in the second. It's not supposed to be serious, but will probably take awhile to heal.

He didn't even play in the 2nd, just went out to stretch and see, turned around and went back to the bench. Kappo played the final 2 periods.

The good:

Fiala got his first goal even if it was an empty netter
Zach got his first goal
Eriksson Ek and his line continue to roll
Kappo with his second straight strong outing

The bad:

Talbot developed irritable bowel syndrome and will be out for awhile

The good:

Golden opportunity for young Kappo.

That is the first I have heard of the IBS issue.
Kappo did look good, so this could be his chance to take the reins.

IBS is just Sweens joking diagnosis for any player not producing the way we want. His bowels are probably actually working just fine.

Since my wife has IBS issues that can be quite debilitating, I can understand an attack of IBS causing him to miss the rest of a game.
I thought it looked like he tweaked a hammy or something doing the butterfly, so I will stick with my diagnosis instead.

Years ago a Pioneer Press writer made fun of the whole upper body, lower body designations and referred to lower body as irritable bowel syndrome.

And there you have it, I don't read the PP.

Yup, a very uninspiring effort by the Wild last night.
For some reason they don't seem to want to put out much effort until there is 10 minutes left in the game.
We have one good NHL line in Ek-Greenway-Foligno, and a bunch of pieces after that.
Billy G needs to do whatever it takes to get another center on this team soon.

Evason also needs to put Kaprozov and Fiala together. Those two can play at a level the others can't play.

Agreed,

then we'd have 2 dynamic lines instead of just one...

Crazy thought. They could even try Parise at center on that line. Zach has a high hockey IQ and is actually pretty adept at faceoffs.

I think that crazy thought just may be why they have been using Zach on more and more draws.......

Speaking of Zach. Dude is so use to a double hander in the middle of his spine in front of the net he's going down now when nobody touches him.

Some really nice/solid pieces on this team too. Young guys are stepping up.

EE is turning in to what we need him to be
Greenway is using his size/strength
Kapp has a couple "damn, shoulda had that" types but overall has been really good
KK is as advertised
Fiala seems to always be the guy that starts something good

The vets are what they are but the season success rests on whether or not Evanson can get the PP on track.

Evason is starting to piss me off. I'm not at all opposed to him pulling Eriksson Ek off his line and putting him with Kaprizov. I just don't understand why he thinks Marcus Johansson is the logical 3rd member of that line. Put Fiala with them. Hell, put Foligno or Greenway on that line. Johansson is a big nothing. Don't saddle Kaprizov with anyone who isn't producing.

It's that old school mentality. Can't have 3 young guys because they aren't defensively aware enough. Why on earth would you put a line together that would score 80 goals but let in 30 when you have a unit that gets you 50 but only lets in 10. It's simple math really.

My motivational powers strike again. Johansson with a goal and assist and Kaprizov with a goal playing together.

I missed the first period and we are up 3-0.
In no time at all we give one up in the 2nd period.
And now Fiala is out for the night on a dangerous hit and LA on a 5 minute PP.

Sorry, but I'm not at all impressed with Johansson. The guy makes bad passes and gives the puck up more than he makes a play with it.

Spend pretty much all of the 2nd period on the penalty kill and still up 3-2......
Really need this period to end so they can regroup.

Nice that we were able to get another goal to end the 2nd up 4-2.
Now they need to play a clean 3rd period and stay out of the penalty box.

If anyone reads anything about what happened to King player Walker who was hit by that Dumba rifle shot, please post it here. That looked pretty bad.

But on an upside note - Yay for the Wild win!

Kappo gave up 3 last night, but there were no cheap ones. The Wild would have coughed up the lead in the second if Kappo hadn't stood on his head. It looks like a new day in Wildville. Two guys capable of being a #1 goalie.

He took a Dumba rocket to the mouth and went down immediately. Haven't heard anything more, but I suspect some lost teeth and a possible broken jaw. Sure was bleeding badly when he left the ice.
