If the Bengals hold with Reiff and go WR or TE.. the table is set for us to trade up for Sewell.

They'll pounce...I just know it.

Sewell not going to be there at 7.

https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-draft-miami-dolphins-trade-173724439.html

Reiff has already agreed to play on the right side for Cincinnati....

They drafted Jonah Williams LT out of Bama 11th overall 2 years ago. He got hurt but has progressed nicely. They need inside help as that their IOL is about like ours.

Thought about it...I'd ship 2 #1's to Cincinnati for 5.

Sure we'll hear how Miami got who they wanted anyway but who cares.

I’d stay put or trade down. We need guards. I’d move Cleveland to LT draft two guards high and take my shot at greatness in 2021.

I'm with you - go with the tackles we've got and get some bloody guards...trade down in the 1st and two guards in the first four picks....

No team has drafted more players (93), made more draft-day trades (35) & selected more 6th/7th rounders (41) since 2012 than the Vikings.

But with the pressure to win now, Minnesota GM Rick Spielman might need to alter his philosophy for this draft.

The smoke and mirrors show has lost it's luster and appeal. Rick has tried everything he can think of and it hasn't worked out. The only strategy left is to go into the draft and play it straightforward. Get the players we need and take advantage of a few trade opportunities should they arise and are in our best interests. Get two guards, a safety, an edge rusher, a WR and don't draft them all in round 7. There are no points awarded for whoever appeared the most clever - someone should put Rick up against a wall and say that to his face.

If a quarterback is going to drop to us, who will it be? I say Fields.

If Spielman was just a cunningly smart Machiavellian bastard ...

I could sit anxiously through the draft with some confidence in a larger scheme coming together.

As it is, Spiels has shown no urgency in planning or building a solid OLine.

He has bumped up his game to atleast one OL in the first three rds of the last four drafts BUT he has never drafted two OL in the first three rounds. Never.

Coming away with one of the following players is my expectation. Two would be a very pleasant surprise. Even the last two on the lists, Little and Banks.

Three? I'd be stunned. Kneeling with hands clasped in religious ecstasy. Cousins-like before games, meals and choosing shampoos.

Penei Sewell
Rashawn Slater
Christian Darisaw
Teven Jenkins
Sam Cosmi
Jalen Mayfield
Alex Leatherwood
Liam Eichenberg
Dillon Radunz
Spencer Brown
Walker Little

Alijah Vera-Tucker
Wyatt Davis
Creed Humphrey C/G
Landon Dickerson C/G
Jackson Carman
Trey Smith
Deonte Brown
Ben Cleveland
Kendrick Green
Aaron Banks

+1

Cleveland to LT and two from the guard list. Get a couple of guards like those Tampa Bay dudes who kept looking over at the KC defense in the SB and chuckled.

Cleveland / Vera-Tucker / Bradbury / Trey Smith / O'Neill

Are you predicting that because its a good or a bad thing?

Or because you are desperate to win the draft challenge and add it to your resume?

More or less a prediction based on what has to be done. With Spielman, who knows.

Second question, take your pseudo-snark to the draft challenge thread but of course I'm desperate to win it, two time winner, life affirming, $50 VISA card, top of the resume!

Second question: ok.

I was kidding!

The Vikings prioritize running over passing, so it makes sense in that regard. But it shouldn't have to be either/or, especially when you can scheme to overcome to a small extent, as Brad pointed out.

It all depends on what era you want to live in. Gary Kubiak and Mike Zimmer live in an era that is long gone. Football has changed radically in the past 10-15 years. We've had coaches that are dinosaurs.

The fear is sonny boy Clint may have spent many of those years listening to and supporting his dad's schemes. Maybe not, hopefully he was around a coach or two that focused on the modern game.

Brad, I think if a QB falls to Minnesota, it will be Lance.

But I think the Vikings will pass on QB if that happens, possibly trade back.

I think the Vikings will surprise and go LBer.

For some reason I see Justin Fields dropping in the draft.

Really? The consensus #1 overall pick will drop to #14?

Agreed, IMO he jumped the shark on that b.s. with all of his kickers

Or maybe Clint is in lockstep with his dad, we go heavy on IOL in the draft, shit works out OL improves to middle of the pack, and our O maintains or improves on it's 2020 top tenishness. Defensive improves to what has been typical in the Zim era. "We should be pretty good".

My bad. I can't keep my Lance's and my Lawrences straight. FWIW, that PFF mock draft simulator insists that Mac Brown will be there when the Vikings draft.

Nope. I was the first to declare that the O Line sucks back in the last year Peterson won the rushing title. It has been the same or gotten worse since, but I don't think that means we should fire Spielman.
