ORIGINAL: Phil Riewer How bad would this be for the cap? SKOR North @SKORNorth · 2m SCOOPS: "He is hoping for a buyout. He is hoping to be elsewhere." EyesPolice cars revolving light – Darren 'Doogie' Wolfson on Zach Parise's future with the #mnwild via the Scoop Podcast. A buyout would be a disaster. According to CapFriendly.com, a Parise buyout would give the Wild a cap hit of 2021/22 - $2,371,794 2022/23 - $6,371,794 2023/24 - $7,371,794 2024/25 - $7,371,794 2025/29 - $833,333 annually. That's an 8 year cap hit with 2 of the years being almost as big of a cap hit as him playing and a 3rd year at only about $1M in savings. So a trade more likely... Trade and hope that Parise plays out his contract. Retiring a year or two after a trade would be the biggest disaster of all for the Wild. Parise could be more attractive to a trade partner than we think. Even though he has a 7.5M cap hit, he is only due $10M in salary spread out over the last 4 years of his deal. His playoff performance could persuade another team that he is still a good player who needs a fresh start. I think it's best if we just make nice with Zach and find a way to co-exist for 4 more years. He can still help this team, just not in the same capacity as he has in the past. That way he can go out in his home town with his buddy Suter just the way they pictured it when they signed. They may not play the significant roles they wanted, but they may even go out bringing a Cup to Minnesota if all goes well. Wow, I just went back and re-read that.....I guess I can take my Wild colored sunglasses off now.
