I don't want to be on the other side of this losing the best 3 of those 4 with Cousins staying as an it is what it is thing. It can't be them and Cousins or they lied about being competitive next year.

People might question what getting rid of your starting qb means but most fans won't. The big 3 would feel like gutting the team where as getting rid of Cousins and that contract makes sense.

Rich business owners lying to their customer base about the quality of their product before they purchase? I know there is rampant hijinks going on at all times in Canada so the rich can pile their money as high as the CN Tower, but here in the U.S. we only reward hard work and virtue.

Virtue signalling, at any rate.

Aaron Wilson@AaronWilson_NFL
Former Minnesota Vikings corner and first-round draft pick Jeff Gladney was found not guilty Thursday by a jury after being indicted last year by a grand jury in Dallas on a felony charge after a female acquaintance alleged he assaulted her @PFN365

i wonder if there are any league rules about 'players' rights' for the drafting team?....there should be - we should file a grievance with the league....

Why? We weren’t forced to cut him.

i understand that, but it seems that the commissioner's exempt list is somewhat arbitrary and i wonder if the league had recommended that we cut gladney....

it seems that the vikings did what was better for the NFL, the league as a whole, and i don't think they shouldn't be punished for that....

Are you overthinking this because you want him back?

Yes, I’d take him back

Yes I definitely would also. Not sure how he or his agent will feel about it now though. I would think not favorably, even though the Vikings actions were the right thing at the time IMO

Pro Football Radio@PfrPodcast
Big day for Deshaun Watson. If a Grand Jury deems there isn’t enough evidence to pursue criminal charges then most league circles believe he will resolve his civil lawsuits with cash settlements, thus clearing his way for a trade out of Houston. #Texans #Steelers #Touchdown #NFL

Corbin K. Smith@CorbinSmithNFL
The #Seahawks have great interest in Deshaun Watson and really like Malik Willis. Both of those statements are true. Two vastly different contingency plans that obviously would be met with far different reactions from fans.

Pro Football Network@PFN365
One source told @AaronWilson_NFL that the #Panthers' level of interest in Deshaun Watson can be described as "all-in."

Tracey 🌻🌻#KeepPounding #GoldStandard@lkntmp
I do not want Deshaun Watson #Panthers

Tom Pelissero@TomPelissero
#49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo’s shoulder surgery was performed Tuesday by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, one of the nation’s leading shoulder specialists. The expectation is Garoppolo is fully cleared right around the start of training camp ... for whatever team he ends up on.

Tom Pelissero@TomPelissero
#Chargers WR Mike Williams' new three-year, $60 million contract includes a $21M signing bonus and $40M fully guaranteed over the first two years. A $3M roster bonus on the 3rd day of the 2024 league year triggers the final year. A strong deal.

Were they?

Was the right thing to immediately cut him?

Was the right thing to let him play while it plays out in the courts and then decide what to do?

Was the right thing to suspend him until he was either convicted or exonerated?

Did we immediately cut Cook when his allegations came up? Is "the right thing to do" based on value to the team?

A grand jury has declined to indict Texans QB Deshaun Watson following a police investigation sparked by lawsuits filed by 22 women who have accused him of harassment and sexual assault.

No player movement but KOC added another positional coach. Now QB coach is doubled up as well.

The smart move is to trade Cousins and other high priced vets, finish the year 4-13, get a high draft pick and rebuild.

Kwesi is a smart guy.

I think this is the path they take.

The other option is to extend Cousins, but I don't think they have the talent to win.

The worst option is to let Cousins play out his final season. Team finishes 8-9 again. What will that accomplish? They will just get a worse QB in the 2023 draft.

If they are going to extend Cousins you do what you can to bring in as much talent as you can. If you trade Cousins you have to get rid of Smith and Thielen and Kendricks and every other 30-year-old player.

I disagree with the bolded.

Imo the worst option is the extension or any scenario that keeps Cousins here longer.

We will never win a Super Bowl with Kirk Cousins.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/03/12/barring-a-trade-or-a-new-contract-kirk-cousins-will-enter-2022-with-the-highest-cap-hit/

For his pay Coisins had better win both MVP and Super Bowl MVP or the roi is crap.

His cap hit next year WILL BE BIGGER THAN ANY OTHER PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE.

His contract implies he is the most valuable player in the league.

If we extend him, Kwesi and KOC are as good as gone, just a matter of when.

I'd like to trade Cousins and a first round pick for Watson. Make it happen!

Let's see Kirk try and excel on THAT team. Maybe then he will understand that it takes a team to win, not just the most expensive QB.

I realize it might be just business as usual and no hurry but I’ll still point out that Rodgers hasn’t signed a damn thing yet and no contract details have been made public

I wouldn't give ANY qb $30-50+ mil unless that QB had won me a Super Bowl. Did you win a Super Bowl on your rookie deal? Yes? Great! Here's your hugenormous contract. F it let's just run victory laps and love life. No? Good luck. Next!
