We believe the Vikings are working on acquiring a new Center. Stay tuned

The #Vikings had less than $10 million in salary cap space before final roster cuts. By trading Jesse Davis and Armon Watts today, they've cleared more than $4 million in space, with only about $792K in dead money from the two deals.

The Vikings have traded Jesse Davis to the Steelers for a conditional 7th 2025

******

Ha ha...Scraps makes an appearance. I think a pro rated 7th round pick 3 drafts from now carries a negative point value.

Really nice trading Jesse Davis so we didn't have to keep him or eat his contract.

$$$ move. Better than waiving him.

So Watts gone, Davis gone, even the move with the punter last week, the Vikings are clearing out cap space for something. That's very clear. Sometimes these types of moves fall short but there is clearly something at work.

Two: Had chatter about trading for an interior OL with an AFC team a couple weeks ago.

I'm surprised about Otomewo and V Lowe making the 53 and Dye sticking around. I hope Kwesi knows what he's doing waiving Watts and trading for Blacklock who's been a total bust so far. However there's some big savings moving on from Watts. Most people think were getting money together for a significant signing.

Making a move for C would be exciting. At this point for Suh? Like getting owned.

Scott, I'm sure there were drafts where 5 guys weren't on our 53 the following year.

What really catches my eye is the FOUR 3rd rounders we had, and we only still have just one of them.

when we drafted surrat, i looked at him like a possible strong safety - smallish, pretty good speed - he was drafted to be an outside linebacker, but we're looking for edge rushers now....

mond looked much better last preseason - o'connell came in and installed a new, more complicated system, and mond faded...he needs more time, or a different brain....

i wonder if we'll pursue mond and/or davis for the practise squad....

Mayock might just make Spielman look like a genius in comparison...

Raiders first-round picks from 2019-2021:

2019:
DE Clelin Ferrell, RB Josh Jacobs and S Jonathan Abram: 5th-year options declined

2020:
WR Henry Ruggs III & CB Damon Arnette: both waived following off-field incidents

2021:
Alex Leatherwood: Waived after one season

I thought leatherwood was a can’t miss player. I better leave the talent evals to the professionals.

Crazy to cut the #17 pick after 1 season.

They also traded their 2019 2nd rounder for a 2023 conditional seventh-round pick that could become a sixth-round pick.

I always like Mayock as a TV personality, but he's an absolute dumpster fire as a GM.

I liked listening to him on NFL Network, but you’re right. It’s easy to pick talent when the pressure isn’t on you.

I do think the coaching staff is involved a lot in draft and FA.

You’re right, but ultimately the call is on the G.M.

I know that Kwesi and KOC just like Zimmer and Spielman...there is communication there. I don't think that Spielman signed Breeland, Alexander, and Mannion w/o Coaches approval. Hell I don't think Spielman went rogue on Mond either. Rumor is that he did on Wyatt Davis but Surratt and Robinson were athletes the coaches thought they could mold.

Blacklock, Marty...Blacklock.

He started 3 of 29 games for a team that won 4 games each of the past 2 years. So probably not.

I hope he's not the starter from Day 1. He's a project at best, a bust at worst.

Ideally we can unlock what made him such a good college player, but I doubt that happens in 12 days...

Watts was considered a starter I think and Blacklock is replacing him. He may be a starter.

Ourlads has Blacllock as one of our starting DEs, ESPN has him as backup NT, Vikings have him as backup NT, CBS has neither him nor Watts listed...
