I thought the Wild outplayed them for all, but 10 really bad minutes. A well deserved win. SMF keeps telling me that this team might be good.

That was a fun one last night despite the 2nd period letdown. The Wild definitely proved they can play with the top teams by beating Tampa and Toronto during this homestand. Now we go on a west coast swing and see how we do against McDavid and the Oilers to start the trip, so things don't get any easier.

Wow, we we’re getting dominated in our own zone, finally get out, and 2-0 GG’s on a beautiful play by Dumba

Same old Oilers, they score lots of goals, but don't play much defense.
We play good defense and continue to score on our chances and we have a good chance of winning this one.

Gotta stay out the box though. Don’t give them an easy one

Talbot looked good and we started skating better towards the end of the period, so a good start.
The 2nd period is always a tough one with the long change so have to take short shifts and make smart changes.

Seventh win in a row.

First place in the Central Division

First in the Western conference

Second best record in the NHL

Held the top two scorers in the league, Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, to a single point between them.

I'm kinda...sorta thinking that this team just might be pretty good.

Among the unsung players this year, Dmitry Kulikov has been a revelation. I thought he was strictly a defensive minded, stay at home, guy when the Wild signed him. I rolled my eyes when Guerin talked about untapped offensive potential when they signed him. Turns out he has some real offensive skill. He looks to be having the best year of his career.

You can add everybody's whipping boy Victor Rask to the unsung list as well. Sure, his skating will always be a liability, but whenever he's in the lineup he seems to be getting points. I'm hoping that at some point that will translate into a good trading chip for Guerin.

I missed the last period last night, but wasn't at all surprised to see we won another one. Keep it rolling!!

I fell asleep between the second and third periods, so I missed the end too. Sounds like they must have tightened up in the defensive zone. Edmonton was swarming in the second.

The biggest issue with Rask is what he gives you for the money. He is limited as a skater, but he has some skills and he is a hard worker and a very smart player.

I watched the whole thing. Talbot saved our butts in the 2nd and we were a different team in the 3rd. We wore them down and dictated the pace in the 3rd. Check out the highlights. Our first goal (JEE in the first minute) was sort of fluky. Not played well by their keeper but the other 3 were beauties. We took their punches and then counter punched it right in the back of the net

I bag on the guy and it's because he has a knack for turning over the puck,
however, he also has a knack for getting into scoring positions, without being covered, and scoring or assisting on goals.

Brodin and Dumba with beautiful assists last night.
Brodin's speed entering the zone and the pass was breath-taking.
The 2nd was scary, 20-6 against us for shots, Talbot is rock solid and so calm.
Can you imagine Doobs seeing all those big orange jerseys flying into the zone like that?
It would have been a floppy mess!

Yup.
Talbot kept us in the game the first 2 periods and it really helped that we scored on our limited chances to give him some room to work with.

SMF sent me a snippet on Kaprizov averaging better than a point a game through his first 80 games. The only other active players tp do this are Ovi, Crosby, McDavid and Malkin.

Yeap. There’s been enough tape on him to adjust playing against him and he’s still lighting it up. Assuming health he’s a superstar. There’s a direct correlation between all the new found success of others. Hartmans/JEE/Foligno ect. They are all having career type years. Good lord if we uncork Fiala 😳

Kap’s presence just makes everyone else’s job a bit easier. As good as Gaborik was, he never had this kind of impact.

KK is an elite skater, with elite hands, and elite vision. Now I sound like PJ.

He also appears to have above average heart and grit.

I remember when Kap wasn't scoring goals in the early games. Fans were overlooking that he was piling up assists during that stretch. When I pointed this out in the Strib comments, somebody responded that the Wild aren't paying Kaprizov all this money to get assists, he was being paid to score goals. I just thought...wow you really don't understand hockey do you.
