Not only didn't the commentators make more of the hit on Kaprizov, they pretty much said that kind of thing is a natural part of the game. "Of course they're going to go after the other team's star players" (paraphrasing) while they wouldn't admit that the hit was actually dirty.

The truth is that there is an excepted norm in the game that you do NOT go after the superstars. No one delivers hits like that to Sidney Crosby, for example.

It's Boston though, essentially one of ESPN's 2 "homer markets". They can do no wrong to a flyover team like us.

Yeap. Agree with Stinger. You have to know that going in. National game on ESPN against the Bruins? If DE didn’t warn them he should be fired. Dirtiest team in the league. You could tell by our response that we were prepared for it. Well done boys.

Well done, yet we're the one who's star player is out who knows how long. Not well enough done. We won the battle but may have lost the war if KK is out long.

I turned it on near the end of 1st period and their thug, #11 was roughing up Zuccarello. I wanted an immediate visit from Foligno on his next opportunity after he got out of the box. Unfortunately that didn't happen until well after KK left the game.

I missed the game, but saw the video of the hit on KK, and agree that it was a cheap shot that shouldn't happen in today's NHL.
I also know nothing will come of it other than maybe a small fine and slap on the hand. This is how the Bruins always play and have for years. Remember the brawl that happened between them and the North Stars back in the old days with over 300 minutes in penalties? We need to do that to them when they visit St Paul this season....let them know that shit won't fly against the Wild. Either play hockey or be prepared to pay for cheap shot hockey!

What an improbable win in such an improbable way, but a nice 2 pts.

We need to get healthy bad.

Agreed on both, but I think Rossi could use about 10 pounds of muscle added to his base. He seems to get knocked off his feet easily.

Wild have taken 4 points in the last two games that I thought were going to be 2 more loses added to the streak. They may not have enough talent to make a run yet, but as a group they sure are easy to like. Who would have thought a lineup of mostly Iowa players would have played close with Ove and the Caps. I actually missed chunks of the game channel surfing back and forth between the Gophers sweep of MSU and the Wild, but knew I had to catch the end of the Wild game. And true to form, they didn't disappoint in 6 on 5 play and stole one again.
A fun night of hockey!

I don't think Rossi can add 10 lbs of muscle. The kid is already built like a brick shit house.

A couple of thoughts;

It's great that the Wild were able to capitalize on one of the greatest gift goals in the history of hockey. I had never heard of a team scoring an own goal when pulling their goalie for the extra attacker ahead of a power play. That was one for the ages.

Kappo is really stepping up in Talbot's absence. Rock solid again last night.

Shootout goal aside, I'm really glad that Guerin only signed Fiala to a one year deal. I really thought he had turned a corner last year. He turned another corner this year and is right back where he was.

All in all, a great win with our best center, best two defensemen and best player all on the side line.

Finally, is anyone surprised that the league declined to discipline Frederic for his dirty hit on Kaprizov? I'm not. Same shit, different year. It's always open season on Wild players.

Like it or not, this is still a Canadian run league and until things change at the top, that bush league crap will always exist.
Look who is in charge of player safety at this time, George Parros, an f'n goon from yesteryear who's only place in the league was fighting.
That tells you all you need to know about how much the NHL really cares about player safety.

Kapp was amazing. Neither of their goals were stoppable. Unreal that they pulled that out.

What an incredible end of the game. The whole game was pretty entertaining, even when we were having trouble scoring goals. But they just never give up, and that's the trait of successful teams.

I was livid with Fiala for the trips to the penalty box (I think one of them was a pretty bad call though), but he redeemed himself with the shoot-out goal. Much needed win, and much needed two points.

And now they sit until the 14th for the next game. Damn covid. The good news is that we'll get most of our sitting players back by the time we play again.

Still mad at the league for not disciplining Fredrick for the hit on Kaprizov.

Evason is talking like the layoff will enough time for Kaprizov to heal.

I think "kid" is the operative word there. He is still a kid playing against men and it will take some time for him to adjust. You can tell he will be a good one though.

Pretty awesome to have 2 very good netminders.
Gives you a shot at winning every night, even with an injury
and covid decimated team in front of them.
Love it!

The Wild signed Merrill to a 3 year extension.

Looks like Ericksson Ek is set to go on Friday. He has been centering Foligno and Greenway in practice.

Rem Pitlick was placed on waivers. Things went south fast for Rem after a promising start. I think this is an indication that the Wild have already decided that Boldy is here to stay.

I think you are right about Boldy being here to stay. He certainly passes the eye test and appears to be ready to take on a top 9 role at the very least, and probably a top 6 spot depending on Dean's mood.
While Pitlick has shown flashes, he hasn't seen the ice time he needs to take the next step. Hoping he clears waivers and can get some quality ice time in Iowa.

Rem picked up by the Habs....
I had a feeling he may not make it through the waiver wire. Maybe he will get a better chance to play up there.

Why send Pitlick through waivers instead of a worthless sack of crap like Gaudreau.

In so many words, Evason basically said Pitlick is a skill guy, but the only spot we have for him is a grinder 4th line spot that isn't a good fit for him.
So off he goes to a Montreal.......
Dewar will now get to rotate in the coveted 4th line spot.

That sucks on Pitlick.

At least Ek and KK are expected back this weekend.
