It’ll be Kaapo in goal tomorrow. Hoping for better.

I missed the game last night, but it sounds like we made some baby steps in our play.
Talbot still struggling doesn't help, but I'm hopeful he can regain his form and play through this tough stretch. We have no chance in the playoffs with him playing as poorly as he is that's for sure.
On to Buffalo where, on paper, it's a gimme game but they can still beat us if we don't play a good game.

This would be really bad news for the Wild.

Hockey Hall of Famer Dominik Hasek has called for the NHL to "immediately suspend contracts for all Russian players" amidst Russia's deadly invasion of Ukraine.

The 57-year-old Czech also had some choice words for Washington Capitals' Russian-born star Alex Ovechkin, a supporter of President Vladimir Putin.

Hasek, who played in the NHL for 16-seasons and is widely considered one of the best goaltenders of all time, called Ovechkin an "alibist," a "liar" and a "chicken (expletive)" after Ovechkin failed to publicly denounce Putin and his country's aggression.

"Every adult in Europe knows well, that Putin is a mad killer and that Russia is waging an offensive war against the free country and its people," Hasek, 57, tweeted Saturday.

A day earlier, Ovechkin was asked whether he supports Putin amid the invasion.

"He’s my president but … I’m not in politics," Ovechkin told reporters on Friday. "I’m an athlete and how I said, I hope everything is going to be done soon. It’s a hard situation right now for both sides... I'm not in control of the situation."

Although Ovechkin said it's "it’s hard to see the war," Hasek said Ovechkin and other complicit Russian players should be "immediately suspend(ed)" from the league.

"Every athlete represents not only himself and his club, but also his country and its values and actions. That is a fact," Hasek tweeted. "If the NHL does not do so, it has indirect co-responsibility for the dead in Ukraine."

Hasek acknowledged that a sweeping suspension on Russian NHL players would unfortunately include those who "condemn V. Putin and his Russian aggression in Ukraine. However, at the moment I also consider their exclusion a necessity."

"I am very sorry for those Russian athletes," Hasek added.

The Sabres didn't get the memo that they're crappy and the Wild are supposed to roll them.

Frustrating game through two periods.

Sabres did beat Toronto like 5 or 6 to 1 last week, so they are capable.
And they have now beat the Wild twice this season.
This team is a mess right now and just can't seem to get anything going with guys missing.
I have a feeling the last half of the season is going to hard to watch if things keep going the way the have been.

It’s time to sit Gologoski. Really liked the bridge signing but man, he’s been terrible this month.

Yeah, he has really been struggling badly.
As if he has already run out of gas and we still have lots of season left.

Hasek is an idiot IMO. These guys happen to be from a country that is doing a bad thing. Players should not be suspended from the NHL for politics is my stance.

There is less than zero chance of the NHL doing something so stupid.

On the bright side, this stretch should keep Guerin from trading away any badly needed top draft picks for a rental player.

That was never going to happen anyway. Guerin has been pretty clear on no rentals.

Yeap. He said he would pull the trigger if it made us better but no rentals. Straight from his jib.

Iowa was on the NHL network yesterday so I watched 2 periods. Not impressed with Rossi. He was a complete non-factor. Especially evident in how much impact Boldy has had. They are in 2 different universes.

Another thing from that game. Remember the UofM goalie that was so hot that he couldn't stay with the team for it's run in the NCAA's? He's the Chicago Wolves starting goalie

Yup, he had a cup of coffee with Carolina until their NHL goalies were off the IR and he proved he wasn't ready for the NHL in a real hurry.
In the meantime Close has been terrific for the Gophers.

I'm guessing that he is still playing catch up after being shut down for a year for his health. Rossi is averaging a point a game. He has way to go, but I think he'll get there.

Wild up early 2-0 against good Rangers team. I guess I picked a good night to take in the game at Bunny’s.

You did. That was the best period of hockey I have seen them play in a few weeks at least.
The real tell will be what happens when a bad bounce goes against them....will they just keep on playing or will they go into panic mode right away.
Talbot hasn't had to make any big saves yet, but at least he has made the ones he has had to.

The first full game they have played in ages and it was a very fun game.
We need to keep playing like that from here on out.
