I can't stop laughing at Deslauriers dragging Karlsson out of Talbot's crease. Karlsson didn't even fight it - just let himself be dragged five feet by the jersey.

I like his attitude. Right away he said that he would take the 5 minutes in the box because Foligno is too valuable to be off the ice that long. He said his job is to make sure those young guys can roll.

Agree, Guerin looks like a genius early on that pickup. Hope he continues and the others follow suit.

WE NEED A WINNER!

Middleton joins the lineup tonight. I think it's pretty telling that Gologoski got booted from the top defensive pairing to make room for him.

Gologoski's game has never been as a physical clear the crease D-man, but more of a puck mover just like Spurgeon, so I don't think they were ever a real good match.
Having a big bruiser like Middleton should make life easier for Spurgeon and you can bet there won't be people trying to take liberties on him any more either.
I like what BG has added to the roster, I hope it works out and we make a run this year.

After a good start to the year, Goligoski has fallen off badly.

Yeap. I said that about 2 weeks ago. Loved the signing but he was killing us during our slide. DE saw it and has really reduced his role.

1-1 after 1. Someone pissed in our Cheerios this morning. Really chippy period. Greenway lost on offensive zone face off and stood up and punched the guy 2 times in the face ๐Ÿ˜„

I just caught the last period and OT last night, and it sure looked like playoff hockey to me.
Nice move by Ekker for the game winner in OT.

The new guys are making their presence felt. Last night was a lot more physical than the Wild hockey we have gotten used to.

That was almost Slapshot like.

How did I miss that? That must have happened when I left the room for twenty seconds or something.

I agree about the chippyness. I'm a tiny bit torn. I like that we've brought in guys for the final run here who are big and not afraid to get physical. But on the other hand I've always despised teams that seem to train for nothing but thuggishness. The St. Louis Blues were like that for quite a few years, and when we played them all I could focus on was how thuggish they were, which diminished my respect for them.

So I DO hope we ramp up the physical part of the game to take opposing teams off their feet, but I don't want to acquire a reputation as a team of thugs. Does that make sense? And can we walk that line?

It was for sure. I'm still in shock the refs let them play. You could have had 60 minutes in penalties in that first.

JMO but no. If the refs let it go it's gonna go. If you paid attention last night. As the crowd got more in to the physical side of it, the more it ramped up. It's a wave.

I'm not worried about the thug aspect. Years past we needed to add talent at the deadline. This year, we have serious talent. Other teams have taken to running guys like Kaprizov, Fiala, Spurgeon, etc. This got complicated by Foligno being the one to go after the goons, meaning we go without him on the ice for 5 minutes. The guys we added take that burden off Folgno and can play hockey in their own right. Our 3rd and 4th lines really bring the thump. If the other team takes liberties with our skill guys, there are plenty of options for retribution.

I think he was curious that the game wasn't televised tonight.

Yeah, I was wondering if you wanted to see Fluery today rather than last night was because you didn't have ESPN+.
I should have made that more clear......
The game last night was a heck of a game and Fluery was just ok I thought.
Their goalie played a lot better and almost stole one for them. Wild weren't real good in the 2nd, but dominated the 3rd and it still took until we were 6 on 5 to get the goal to force OT.
If we keep playing like that it could a long, fun playoff season.

Yep. The second CBJ goal was a little iffy. Fleury gave up a lot of rebounds.

As for Kaprizov...damn, he's good!
