Time to put the Blues in their place and send a message for the playoffs.

Not doing that so far, but there is still time. Just at the halfway point now.

I missed the game today, but it appears it was more of the same when it comes to playing the Blues.
I was hoping they would manage a win today just to prove to themselves it can be done.....oh well.

Same old same old. The Wild continue to make too much work out of playing the Blues. It's time for Evason and Guerin to face a couple of facts. 1. Jordie Benn is a total liability at this point. Shot gun him and bring up Addison. 2. You can not use Talbot in the playoffs.

Point 1. agreed
Point 2. agreed again.
I think they are using Fluery sparingly now because they know he will be needed to get past the 1st round in the playoffs. Playing him just enough to keep him sharp.

I admit I bailed on the game when we were down 4-1, so I didn't see the comeback. Unfortunately the Blues seem to just have our number, but I'm hoping our players don't subscribe to that meme because we'll see them again in the playoffs.

I think the playoff brackets are all messed up as they currently stand.
They should go back to a conference seeding instead of the current structure that puts 2 of the top 4 teams against each other in the first round. That means either the Wild or the Blues are out right away and either the Oilers or Kings will move on based on playing in a weaker division. And it also means that Calgary has a much easier path to the finals. The only upside to the current structure is we don't have any late west coast games.

I watched the whole game. Same problems as has been an issue for years. We can’t win FO’s and our ST’s suck. I said it weeks ago. That’s going to be our downfall.

And, agree with point 1 but not 2. I wouldn’t put that game on Talbot. Dude was under seige until we got our shit together. I’ve never seen a team so terrible at protecting the lane to the net. They were getting passes in there like that was our game plan. Protect the outside and give up the middle of the ice 😣

It's the physical teams like the Blues and Preds that own the center ice against us. That game against the Oilers and McDavid was just the opposite, we kept them to the outside all game long. We just don't match up well with physical teams plain and simple. We have exactly one defenseman that can handle those bigger guys in front and that is Middleton. The rest of our D-men get pushed around easily.

That's how the Dallas game was. Fleury was phenomenal except for one incredibly bad goal.

I only saw that last 15 minutes of the 2nd period so far, but that sure was a poor period of hockey.
Fluery kicking rebounds straight out in front of the goal doesn't help. Better pick up our game or we will lose this one too.

In his defense that was deflected right in front of him. That was actually a hell of a save. Tough to have good rebound control on a reaction save

Won’t matter. We will get crushed in the playoffs again. It was a fun regular season win but they had, something like, 9 rookies/call ups and played a night game in Dallas yesterday. We were all over them for 10 minutes, lost about 2 full periods because of our goalkeeper play and ST’s and had to “steal” it in OT.

We can score but we are not built for the playoffs.

Yup, it will be like re-living those Chicago series back when they booted us from the playoffs in 4 games every year.
The only difference is it will be the Blues instead. We may win one home game and get our hopes up, only to be dashed in short order.

Evason will have to guess right on the goalie every game. Fleury and Talbot can both look like the Dominator one night and Devin Dubnyk the next night.

The defensive pairings have regressed. Kulikov started out like he could be a physical presence on the blue line and suddenly decided he wanted to show his offensive ability and turned into a finesse player. Aside from the occasional borderline hit from Dumba, Middleton is the only one back there playing a physical game.

Worst of all, this team has lapsed into worrying about what the other team does instead of just playing their own game.
