You know, maybe Kaprisov could have benefited from being part of preseason. Maybe he owes some of his salary back for failing to be ready for the season?

He was here for all of training camp and preseason.
He is reported to be the best conditioned player on the team.
He is averaging a point a game, including setting up Ek for an OT winner.
He has a bullseye on his back every time he steps on the ice. Pretty much has a goon taking a run at him on every shift.

Was he mentally present?

There is nothing to indicate that he wasn't. More to the point, there is nothing wrong with how Kaprizov is playing. He is the focal point of every team's game plan and he is still averaging a point a game.

I'll trust bstinger on this. He says he's not as special as we were thinking.

You and stinger love country music, so your opinions mean nothing.

KK needs to shoot the puck more and stop trying to make the perfect pass. Yes he's getting extra attention. All top scorers do, he needs to figure it out and earn the 9 million per year. Judd and Declan of Skor North agree with me. Their opinion means far more than some Bastard.

Hey we're finally on the board first. Nice pass by Ek to Zukes.

Great save by Talbot on a 2 on 1.

I only stayed up for the first period, but liked what I saw and it was real nice to see them playing with a lead for a change.
A great way to start a road trip.

Pretty much everything clicked last night. Fun to watch and it just felt all along that they had this game nailed, although we all know better than to assume anything until the final buzzer. Good to see Talbot back in his old form, and things like passing the puck and defending on our end all looked pretty darn good.

SMF's take...Talbot kept Vancouver from scoring at least 4. The Wild kept themselves from scoring 5 or 6.

I'm curious what SMF's take is on KK97.
He sure seems to be struggling right now and doesn't look at all like the player we saw last season. Maybe one of his contacts knows if there is a nagging injury or something, because he just doesn't look right at this time.

He thinks KK is trying to do too much while playing with a bullseye on him. Wants to prove he is worth the contract. One will go in and then "it'll start raining goals for the kid. He's too good not to"

Yeah, that is pretty much what I thought too.

From Russo:

#mnwild lines

Kaprizov-Eriksson Ek-Zuccarello
Greenway-Hartman-Foligno
Fiala-Gaudreau-Bjugstad
Duhaime-Sturm-Pitlick

Looks like Rem Pitlick will make his Wild debut and Victor Rask will be scratched vs. #canucks

I'm really sick of Fiala getting saddled with the left overs. Right now he is playing with a center who has 6 goals scattered over a 5 year career. Why not put him with Hartman and Foligno? You can't tell me those two would miss Greenway.

I think you have something there. Greenway will be the next one in the press box if he doesn't pick up his game. So far he has been a passenger on that line. Moving Fiala up with Hartman and Foligno would make that a true #2 line and our bottom 2 lines would be pretty even with that change.

I think we need to take "line-up" and mixing duties away from Evason and give them to Sweens.
That would make me happy.

I wouldn't cross Evason. Dude scares the shit out of me.

Zuccarello and Pitlick out with a positive Covid test......
Rau, Dewar, and Lizotte called up.
If we are going to go through with a Covid run through the team like last season it may as well be now and not later in the year.

F***! Pitlick had a positive debut and he's right back out of the lineup. No doubt the worthless Rask will suit up. Let's see Crazy Eyes do something like put Fiala in Zucc's spot with Kaprizov.

#mnwild lines without Zuccarello and Pitlick

Kaprizov-Eriksson Ek-Fiala
Greenway-Hartman-Foligno

Dewar-Rask-Bjugstad

Kyle Rau not in line rushes, so it appears as if Connor Dewar will make his NHL debut.

From what the articles are saying, it's good thing I went to bed after the 1st period.
They got on the board with the first goal of the game, had one disallowed, and then did nothing the rest of the night.
We are a team in flux talent wise and it shows. We have a few pieces, but not enough to be a top team yet.
The biggest problem though, is we got out worked by the Kraken. We aren't a very good team when we aren't working hard.

A little ditty from Russo:
Kaprizov yet again failed to win a lot of his battles. Fiala yet again was his typically careless self with the puck all game long.

After Fiala made an offensive-zone mistake and Kaprizov a defensive-zone mistake en route to Haydn Fleury’s wraparound, tie-breaking, eventual game winner in the second period, Evason split Kaprizov and Fiala and ended the short-lived experiment of even thinking of playing two high-risk players like them together.

They played about 10 good minutes to start the game and took the lead. The remaining 50 minutes was a total train wreck. Talbot gave up a softie to tie the game and then stood on his head to keep us in it heading into the third.

I think high risk is gross mischaracterization of Kaprizov. He is usually pretty diligent in his own end of the ice.

Usually, but so far this season he has been losing a lot of the little board battles that he was winning last season.
I wonder if he is hurting some and just trying to play through it.

Could be. He certainly looks engaged. He has a thug running at him on virtually every shift. He's not that big, but he doesn't back down. He may have sustained something that he is playing through.

Is that what they are calling irritable coach syndrome now? LOL

jk. My wife deals with that so I know it can be painful and no fun at all.

It will be nice to see Beckman get his chance with the big club now.
