If the Vikings lose to the Lions this weekend what do you do?

I'm pretty much with the idea of firing both after the season. In season firings are pointless. The Vikings aren't going to do any better under and interim coach than they would under Zimmer. There is nobody in the Vikings organization who is worth considering long term. Somebody posted Patterson the other day, but he hasn't proven himself to be more than a good defensive line coach. He's also in his 60's.

A coach and a president of football operations will have to come from outside the organization. Those guys won't be available until after the season.

I would fire them now and play for a 1-16 season and the #1 pick.

At this point I'd also throw Kellen Mond to the wolves and see what he has. Cousins has got one more season after this and we need to know what we have moving forward.

I'm not in favor of that. Tanking rarely pays off in any sport. I don't like breeding a culture of throwing in the towel and losing on purpose. Drafts are made by making good decisions with the picks you get. And good decisions include doing things like not trading out of early rounds to get more picks in the 6th and 7th rounds.

Firing Zimmer is more than pointless; changing the on-field system during the season makes it harder to evaluate players. I've said before I'd fire Spielman as soon as you start thinking about it, because it's been ten years with him in charge and if you're questioning his direction now, he isn't going to last. Give someone new the chance to evaluate the whole program, start scouting, and have a target for coach as soon as the season ends.

Is it going to be any easier to find a top executive during the season than a coach? Most teams won't give permission to talk to their people during the season.

Fire neither but keep them both on the increasingly hot seat. Don' t plan to fire, but keep the option open.

No point in firing the coach in middle of the year.

I would be fine firing Speilman yesterday if you know who you want as replacement and they are available, give them time to evaluate and build towards draft/free agency.

They'll get the full year to make the playoffs IMO.

However, they lose to Lions and they start to implode, I could see a quicker move.

hard to see if they go 8-8 or 9-7 they'll be around much longer. it will be 4 years into the Cousins experiment.

0 division titles, 1 playoff appearance in 4 years, when you told management that Kirk is the final piece to a team that made it to the NFCCG.

Don't think that will fly with the Wilfs.

How about the wilfs, put the word out..

Just a simple vote of confidence in the GM and coach..

You know, like how they do…

And move the **** on from three obvious albatross..

This team needs a new identity, and as painful as it is going to be, the dinosaurs need to be left in the dirt, to be exhumed and analyzed by the football archeologists, as the case study, in how a defensive guru, with his over his head “slickster”GM, and stuck in the wrong decade, millennia, coach, can waste talent, mismanage Personnel and game clock.

The two of them are toxic revenants of a failed, archaic ideology.

It’s soo frustrating to see good talents, like Moss, Culpepper, Birk, Allen, fn child abusing purple Jesus, Diggs, Rudolph, on and on…

Burn out on the futility of mismanagement.

I can’t control it, but if I did…
Which is The Whole point of this thread..

I cut my losses, eat the money, make a wholesale change, because it’s about wins, not scheme, or effort or excuses.

The Wifls are Billonaires…

Nuff said.

If I was one of the majority stake holders, Zimmer and Spielman get papers, game day end of regulation, week17Loss, + 1 hour

If you think this season has a chance to go somewhere, watch it play out to the bye.

Then, it’s time for some byes…

When the Vikings are letting me down like this I'd endorse cleaning house to any degree.

If I'm the decision maker I fire Zimmer.

Convince Randy Moss to coach the team. Favor just chuck it up and let em make a play offense with PA and runs from 3 WR sets. Go for it on 4th a lot. Conversely on D ... super aggressive with the blitz.

Win.

The 3 WR set seems a bit conservative.

fire both, and i'd trade cousins to the browns or 49ers, or whoever gave me a best deal...play mond....

i think keeping zimmer would depress everyone and drag the team down...plus the press would be constantly talking/writing about the imminent firing...it would be torturous for everyone - including the fans....

I don't think anyone could fit his contract in their current salary cap for this season and nobody is going to think he is worth shit if we are trying to dump him when all we have on the roster to replace him is Mannion and an untested rookie third round pick.

Cousins is our QB for the remainder of this season at the very least.

Zim coaching scared has a trickle down effect on the whole team.

His flaws have have always been there but seem more transparent than ever this season. He's coaching like a complete coward and it is embarrassing to watch.

Fire Speilman first.

Zimmer will know the writing is on the wall at that point.
