You know this thread is gonna be hot in January..

Maybe sooner, if we revert to form and snatch defeat from the jaws of nail biter victories..

Wins a superbowl then shits his way out of a job in just a couple years....

No thanks

Good idea for a thread.

An offensive coach with demonstrated ability to design and execute a successful aerial game from at least 2018 on. Added the date to contrast with Zimmer's 1964 vision. Bet he loved Lombardi's "a seam here and a seam here" video.

Such a coach must have no kids of age aspiring to be flunky assistant coaches.

I'm hoping our new HC is Mike Zimmer. I hear he's pretty good.

Bieniemy maybe good, I'm not sure.
Leftwich I hope we avoid him I just don't see it. He get a lot of props but I'm not convinced he wouldn't be a disaster.

What about Robert Saleh from SF or Marcus Brady in Indy?

Biggest hire will be GM. Need to find an up and comer who can find the next great mobile QB.

Isn't Robert Saleh the HC of the Jets right now?

Nice list to start researching now that I'm in off season mode.

My question is the same on Bieniemy and Leftwich; How much do they actually coordinate? and How much of their team's offensive success comes from having Hall of Fame QBing, as opposed to innovative scheme and game plan?

This is what scares me the most about Bieniemy. First he's a protoge of Andy Reid. Pardon my previous bad experiences with an Andy Reid underling, but how much does he actually devise and call? Further how much of the Chiefs success has been improvisation by Mahomes?

Leftwich, Well he has Brady and that certainly helps to have that kind of QB under center. Same thing. How much is Leftwich and how much is Brady.

Would either man translate well to coaching a say, Kirk Cousins type?

Our last HC hire was brought in to rebuild our defense.

He will be leaving the defense in the same condition as when he arrived.

If we bring in an offensive minded coach get use to having the 30th ranked defense for a while.

As pointed out above. Who we hire as the new GM is by far more important.

I kind of like the idea of looking at Matt Campbell From Iowa State. Younger guy, he seems to focus on organization, and the details of the game that lead to good football.

Why?

Doesn't it depend on who he hires as his DC?

Denny had some pretty good defenses. Even Childress had top half to top 3rd defenses during his tenure, while Frazier had bottom dweller defenses 2 of his 3 years.

KC has one of the ultimate offensive minded coaches, and they've been Top 10 in Defensive Points 7 of 9 years.

And we know Kirk would prefer a white evangelical Christian head coach.

How about Josh McDaniels? Think he's available. Worth kicking the tires at leat.

If your offense can score points and do it with consistency and keep your own defense fresh with long drives..

You make your opponents more one dimensional if they are playing from behind..

A great offense can make an average defense look good..

Our defense has talent, but my god, it is just soo badly coached..

I’m sick of ru, run pass short, hope..

I want a dynamic offense that is not predictable and can score touchdowns, not settle for field goals because a throw into the endzone from 20 yards+ out is considered too risky…

Truth be told, not a lot of Belichick guys have done very well as a head coach. Romeo Crennel, Charlie Weiss, Eric Mangini, Bill O'Brien and Matt Patricia come to mind. McDaniels himself was at Denver and went 11-17 with the Broncos.

There has been a lot more guys that have gone on to be head coaches, but few of them served at a high level when with the Patriots. Brian Flores may have had the most success so far as an NFL coach.
