And how is it that we're signing all these herbivores?

Hasn't the league year started?

What's up with Thielen and our cap?

It has to be a done deal. We would be over with the new signings.

Nah, we never signed anything and told those new guys to chill while the team looks for a replacement for the newly fired Brzezinski.

I'll rate Philips a solid 2nd tier grab. Not sure we'll see a bigger slash.

Schlottman with a 26.3 passing grade.

Downgraded to a tier 4 signing.

Are we trying?

When new Minnesota Vikings offensive line coach Chris Kuper looks around the room when the Vikings start their offseason program, he’s going to see at least one familiar face looking back at him.

The Vikings have just announced that they have agreed to terms with offensive lineman Austin Schlottmann, who spent his first four NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos. Kuper was the assistant offensive line coach in Denver for the past three seasons.

Schlottmann signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Christian in 2018. He spent 2018 on the Broncos’ practice squad but made the big club in 2019 and 2020. He started the 2021 season on Denver’s practice squad but was elevated to the main roster in November.

Over the past three seasons, Schlottmann has appeared in 42 games for the Broncos with seven starts.

Depth guy only. He can (marginally) play all three iol positions. But, he’s not great at any of them.

The question I have Joe is why the rush? I'm sure the market for this guy was pretty cool yet we looked him up on the day FA officially began.

I have no doubt their are guys destined for dozens of practice squads better than thus guy.

Did he get more than Vet minimum?

New OLine coach knows him well.

More ability means more cap money.

That’s the new guy’s job to figure out.

So far I’m underwhelmed.

Yep.

Last 2 signings look like camp fodder.

Phillips and Hicks were the splashes, mid-bottom tier the rest of the way.

We still need 6 mill or whatever it is to sign the draftees.

Still expecting 10+ wins?

Nice. And true.

We've got connections to every team, coach, and scheme throughout the league. Someone is probably connected to Chili's Kick-Ass offense.

if we're trading hunter i think that we're trying to keep barr - they might not like hunter as an edge-rushing linebacker....

barr has two ghost years, '22 & '23 - each has $5mm of cap hit, but if we let him go this offseason the entire $10mm dead cap is applied - in fact, on spotrac's board they're already applying the $10mm cap hit of dead cap....

i believe that this means that we can sign barr for up to $5mm in new money this year and have zero cap consequence....

is that correct?...anybody?....

Barr has spent so much time coasting/nursing injuries I don't really want him back.

Is he suddenly going to be a force and make more than 1 or 2 splash plays. I have my doubts. We got very little out of him when he steered away from the Jets.

I'm mad about the Hunter deal. Losing him makes this FA an F.

Not a good start for the new regime. If they settle for less than a 1st I'll lose it. A team wants him they should be paying for his super star potential.

If we sign Barr, I'm going to run into a wall head first.

Forget that Barr is owed 9.89M of guaranteed money ... no matter what we do. He has a progressively bad knee condition that has to be nursed.

I know O'Connell spoke highly of Barr in his intro presser ... so I guess there's a chance.

That would be 'zimmer last laugh salt in the wound' for an already painful offseason that is only a couple of days old.
