Twins -- Sanchez is a horrible defensive catcher. Worse than Garver. Some say he would DH here, but isn't that what Sano should be doing? And the Twins have no other options at catcher other than Jeffers. They seem really thin at the position so another deal has to be coming. I doubt we go into 2022 with Sanchez and Jeffers and nothing else. And Sanchez has regressed at the dish too. His SLG the second half of last year was just .350. He is basically a Miguel Sano clone.
Urshela is not a natural SS. He's a very good 3B, but he is a slight downgrade from Kiner-Falefa in the field. He hits with a little more power, but he gets hurt and is slow. Basically this trade was Donaldson for Urshela (Sanchez and Garver cancel each other out) and it was done to save $18 million this year and maybe $13 million next year as Urshela makes $4.5 million this year and will get $10 million in arbitration next year. Are they going to use that money to get a pitcher?
And what about the position? Urshela is probably best used at 3B which leaves a hole at SS. Do they think Royce Lewis and Nick Gordon can fill it? I hope they trade Arraez, keep Polanco at 2B, and either make a splash with Story at SS or play Lewis and Gordon there. Arraez is a bad defender at 3B so I hope that's not their plan.
