I really don't understand Sanchez. Probably the worst defensive catcher in baseball. At the plate, it is either out of the park or an out...dave Kingman like.

They probably tried to move Sano but can't. He's too heavy. Would take a payloader to get him on a plane and then it would have to be one of those military transport planes.

They signed Donaldson which was a bigger shock. The trades they made point to it (Story).

Ursela if healthy can hit. High 800 OPS in 19-20.

Just looked at his career arc. Ouch. He slipped a lot last season. He's at that age where it's probably not gonna bounce back much. And the Coors Field factor. Not sure I like us throwing a bunch of money at this guy.

He won't be as expensive as Correa and the Rockies didn't have a great lineup around him. It would be better to give him the same contract they gave Donaldson when Story is 29 instead of 34-35.

Fear not young one.

The 29-year-old Story had something of a disappointing season overall, as an elbow issue impacted him at the plate and dragged down his throwing ability in the field. That said, Story’s .251/.329/.471 slash and 24 home runs in 595 plate appearances were still solid, and he has a track record of strong production on both sides of the ball. Dating back to 2018, he’s a .281/.348/.532 hitter with 107 home runs and 85 steals in 2166 plate appearances. Hitters who call Coors Field their home tend to have pronounced splits that draw the ire of skeptics, but Story has been about 17% better than league average with the bat since ’18 even after weighting for his home park (117 wRC+).

I want nothing to do with story. Dude can't hit anything outside of Coors Field. Look at his splits. Just terrible away from the mountain air.

I think it was more the lineup than that...but the numbers aren't great.

The best piece of the trade yesterday was Ursela....he batted cleanup for the Yankees when needed. Already read somewhere that Sanchez getting out of NY and now will be around Polanco, etc. (Wish Cruz was still around) could turn his fortune around.

We got rid of a guy who spends most of his time on the DL. That's a win.

Maybe seeing a Twins uniform everyday will get Sanchez back in form. Like the old days.

I know some are upset about Garver but he is 31. Played 93 games in 19, 23 in 20, and 68 in 21.

He has the same lineup around him whether he plays at home or on the road.

Jeffers is our #1.

Sanchez is C/DH.

Probably have to carry a 3rd catcher.

Sources: #Twins, #Athletics have discussed trade proposals in recent days that would include a starting pitcher going to Minnesota. Sean Manaea or Frankie Montas is the top candidate to be included in the deal, if it comes to fruition.

Less runs on the road, less guys on base.....can pitch around him. I still think he will hit in our lineup.

Sanchez if they keep him figures to be DH most of the time when he’s not catching. So he doesn’t make sense as a second catcher because you’d still need another guy who can catch on the roster.

I don’t mind dumping Donaldson’s salary. I did grow to like the guy but he never rose to the level of his salary. And he’s no youngster any more.

My fear is this doesn’t open up money for new signings. It opens up the Pohlad’s pockets and goes in never to be seen again.

He's probably due for an 80 gamer.

He has averaged 107 games in his last 5 seasons.

Leg muscle injuries aren't a fluke anymore. It is what is expected at some point.

Urshela.

If I have to spend the next 5 years reading your misspelling of his name, I don't want him.

Story would be a great guy to add. Plus defender and still a decent hitter, even away from Coors. Just don't expect GREAT numbers...probably an OPS around 770. Better than Urshela at SS and Arraez at 3B.

Montas is the guy to get, not Manaea. He's under team control an extra year and is healthier...just a better pitcher.

Hopefully we see Story and Montas here with a bullpen arm or two added later this week.
