The best piece of the trade yesterday was Ursela....he batted cleanup for the Yankees when needed. Already read somewhere that Sanchez getting out of NY and now will be around Polanco, etc. (Wish Cruz was still around) could turn his fortune around.

Urshela.

If I have to spend the next 5 years reading your misspelling of his name, I don't want him.

I figured you liked the little mermaid so I will misspell it with Ursula.

Story would be a great guy to add. Plus defender and still a decent hitter, even away from Coors. Just don't expect GREAT numbers...probably an OPS around 770. Better than Urshela at SS and Arraez at 3B.

Montas is the guy to get, not Manaea. He's under team control an extra year and is healthier...just a better pitcher.

Hopefully we see Story and Montas here with a bullpen arm or two added later this week.

That looks consistent with his career stats away from Coors field. His career split away from CF is .241, .310, .442, .752. He would be at about 24 HR per year based on his HR on the road. Factor in a modest increase when he becomes familiar with Target Field.

I withdraw my objection to Story. He would be a sizable improvement over our SS play over the last several years.

Sanchez if they keep him figures to be DH most of the time when he’s not catching. So he doesn’t make sense as a second catcher because you’d still need another guy who can catch on the roster.

Sanchez is not a backup catcher. His defense is Matt LeCroy level.

A's just got a haul for Matt Olson. Pache, Langeliers, and two decent arms. Prospects 1, 2, 6, and 14 from the Braves. They didn't get all that much for Bassitt from the Mets...the prospects they got slid into the #4 and #19 spots on the team.

If they were to trade Montas, I wonder who the Twins would give up? Duran or Balazovic as well as two others like Sands and Canterino.

He will cause Rocco to cry like Frank Robinson

People forget how excellent Gio Urshela was in 175 combined games between 2019 and 2020. Hit .310 with a 134 OPS+ and barely struck out.

Dealt with injuries for much of last year. He's a prime bounce-back candidate for the Twins.

Sano and Sanchez would still be huge problems in the lineup. Not to mention Kepler, Larnach and Kirilloff are all iffy at best. Just kind of a mess right now.

Kirilloff still hit with a bad wrist. Larnach is a question mark.

I'll take it. This lineup would definitely be a step in the right direction. Reading Falvey's comments, it sounds like Sanchez will stay and alternate at catcher. Then again, he said Kiner-Falefa would give us a gold glove SS this year, right before he traded him.

I agree on trading Arraez. He is a .300 hitter who doesn't strike out, but there is no pop in his bat. His speed and defense are below average. The bat should give him pretty solid trade value. If I were a betting man, I would say the Twins will keep him in the "super utility role".

FWIW, the rumors have the Twins talking trade with Oakland for Montas or Manaea. No updates on Story. Lots of speculation that one of the reasons they were so desperate to dump Donaldson's salary was to make a run at Story.

Pineda has been a solid mid rotation guy. I have no problem bringing him back. Grienke isn't coming here. Any time there have been Grienke to the Twins rumors, he has shot them down. Wouldn't sign here. Wouldn't waive his no trade clause.

Kirilloff still hit with a bad wrist. Larnach is a question mark.

Larnach did great until he got injured and kept trying to play through them. He kept it to himself and got demoted. Then after a week or two in St. Paul, he got shut down for the year.

Why would you want to move on from Pineda? He keeps you in every game and occasionally pitches a gem. Our rotation is better with him than it is without him. He's not gonna be expensive. Glad you're not running the Twins, Phil.

He is going to run 8-10 million and miss 1/3 of the season. Never comes to camp in shape but can pitch. I could eat McDons for a month straight and come into camp looking better.

Trade for both Maneaa and Montas.

According to LEN III, the Twins traded for Kiner-Falefa with the intention of him being their SS. Apparently the Yankees wanted him as well and called the Twins after the trade. The Twins took the opportunity to dump Donaldson's contract.

A mess with players, but not such a mess with payroll.
