Playing short handed all night and the team didn't miss a beat. Played a good solid game and controlled the tempo of the game all the way through.
4-1 with about 4 minutes left.....just have to keep playing our game.

5-1 final with the EN goal to finish it off.
A complete game by the Wild tonight.

What a perfect response to the crappy second game in Dallas. And what a difference having Gus in the goal makes. Hopefully Fleury will just be a benchwarmer from here on out.

Gus is so calm and steady in the goal and the entire team just plays better in front of him because of that.
Foligno played his best game of the season and was the force we haven't seen in a long time.
Zuc played his ass off too, but I'm worried about Kirill. He seems to be more worried about being physical and that is taking him off his game.
It will be interesting to see if Walker draws into the lineup with Ek out. Maybe slide Boldy back in at center with Johansson and Walker....a power center with lots of speed on the wings.

On second thought, it will most likely be Steel back in to center the 3rd line with Gaudreau moving between Johansson and Boldy.

Boy, I keep reading stuff about what a dink Ryan Suter is in real life. Local media seemed content to keep that out of the papers, but now I know why he was always booed in Nashville (I just always assumed it was because he left them, and they responded like a spurned lover). Judd Zulgad summed up some of it by ticking off some of the ways in which he ticked off teammates:

quote:

Suter being booed each time he touches the puck is a lifetime Wild achievement award for every time he demanded a practice be held in Edina, or looked at a stat sheet to check ice time, or called Adam Oates (along w/Parise) to work on the power play, or complained to the owner.

Add his thuggish cross checking of Kaprizov to the mix of what was apparently a prima-donna guy behind the scenes, and he should expect continuous boos going forward.

The Wild are better off without Suter and Parise even with the cap hell that came with dumping them.
Nothing worse than a couple of 38 year old prima donna's trying to run a locker room full of 20 something teammates. The team is doing just fine without them.

Suter undermined every coach and GM he ever played for here. It sucks to chew up so much cap space on a player who isn't here, but Billy was right to push Leo for the buyouts. Suter was a malignancy that had to be removed.

I never had the impression that Parise was a prima donna. He was constantly taking ridiculous checks in the back while he held his ground in front of the net, and I never heard anything about making demands behind the scenes.

Of course, I hadn't heard about Suter's demands until just recently, so you never know, but I'd be careful to lump the two men in the same group as prima donnas just because they were brought here at the same time.

As far as I'm concerned they're gone now, so it really doesn't matter any more. In a few more years the cap hell will be over with and the Wild will have a lot of extra money to bring in some top talent to blend in with our young prospects. All is good....

One hell of a 1st period with lots of hits and intensity. A big boy game for sure. I think I would have rather seen Sundqvist over Steel just for the size, but whenever I think that Steel makes a play so let's hope.

This is one of those Gorg games where the longer it stays 0-0 the better.

We get one back and at least the crowd is back into the game. Need the equalizer and that building will really go crazy.
