The Wild picked up Maroon for a 7th round draft choice. That takes care of Reaves replacement.

We better shore up our PK with Maroon's 150 penalty minutes......

I wish the NHL would clean up their act so the so-called enforcer wasn't needed at all.

On the bright side we didn't waste valuable cap space on Reaves. Watching the entire Dallas team mock him was enough for me. I'm afraid these next couple of years are going to be tough unless some of the young guys can grow up fast..... Hello Rossi....paging Marco Rossi.

I have a lot of hope for Rossi,Walker, and Addison.

I have anxiety over Rossi. At 21 there is still time, but his scoring pace in the AHL wasn't much better last year than it was the year before. He didn't exactly dominate. We were told at the time he was drafted that the Wild got a top 5 talent at #9. So far we haven't seen it. The last comment I read from Billy Boy sounded like he was hedging his bets. "We want him to make the team, but..."

Walker? I basically see another Jordan Schroeder. Another speedy undersized kid, who will sometimes impress with his hustle and hockey sense, but will bounce between the NHL and AHL for a couple of years before disappearing.

Addison was unfairly singled out when the defense had bad games last year. Dumbo would make more egregious mistakes and Billy/Evason never said a word. That said, there are things Addy needs to clean up defensively. If he can do that his offensive game should have him skating in the top 4 defensemen. If not,...

Exactly why I had the word hope in there

The guy I wish we could have kept was Nyquist. He came in and looked like he was at a different level that what we have seen outside of Boldy and KK.

I think you're gonna get your wish Frank. This team is regressing badly, IMO. I would say "good/bad/ugly" the best thing for this team to do is play Rossi/Addison the first 50+ games, no matter what, to see what they have.

The danger there is that, if they got nothing, we get nothing in trade value. You could probably trade them on potential right now. That may be gone soon.

The bigger problem than that though, is Dean. He's so damn stuck in his ways we may never get to see if Rossi/Addison can play full time.

I don't see them regressing as much as I see them treading water. There are a few things that should help going into next year.

1. Gustavsson will go into next season as the #1 goalie. I think even Evason has seen the light on that score.

2. Dumba is gone and that is addition by subtraction.

3. We will have Brock Faber on the blueline for a full season. He played like a 5 year veteran from day 1.

4. Boldy will go into the season with someone he has established chemistry.

There is still the lack of depth at center and they are chronically bad at faceoffs. Evason is still too old school for my taste. I see another year of losing in the first round and getting a pick in the 20-25 range.

Every other team in the Central looks to have improved their roster while we are treading water at best......
Add in any injuries to key player for any length of time and we could very well miss out on the playoffs. This team isn't good enough to just show up and win, especially short-handed.

Maroon to Wear No. 20 with Wild
First Wild player to sport number since Suter
Imagine that, a #20 willing to stick up for a teammate if needed.

The Dean favors vets or smart decisions look for Maroon to get PP minutes.

Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed goalie Filip Gustavsson to a three-year, $11,250,00 contract ($3,750,000 average annual value) that goes through the 2025-26 season.

Good signing. I like (in general) the moves this management has made. It will be interesting to see what they can do once the dead weight of Parise and Sutter money is off their backs.

You can bet the first order of business will be to extend Kirill once we have a full cap to work with.....it will be time by then.

For me it was when he blew up an opponent with a dirty hit and sustained a season ending shoulder injury in the subsequent fight.

Seriously, my favorite Dumba moment is right now when he signed with another team.

Ah yes, his classic, borderline dirty, open ice hit.......
He had more than one of them over the years and a few great shots in pre-shoulder injury years too.
I think he will be missed more in the locker room than he will be with fans.

DAMN! Brad Maxwell dead at 66 of lung cancer. One of my all time favorite North Stars defensemen. He did it all. Played great D, cleared the crease, scored goals and drop the gloves and go toe to toe with anyone.

Rest in peace Maxy and thanks for the memories.

Training camp begins today and we get our first look at Bedard on Sunday playing in the Prospect Showcase in St Paul this weekend.
I may have to tune in on YouTube to see if he's really all of that.....
